Well, I'm a bit flummoxed on what to do.
I just purchased a bunch of supplies during the Black Friday/Cyber Buster sales that I was going to give a go over my holiday break:
A new Foam Cannon to play with
New wash soap - Optimum car wash
A new Microfiber Madness Incredimitt
A new MM "Dry Me Crazy" towel
LC Backing Plate for my Flex
3x LC 5" Hybrid Orange pads
3x LC 5" Hybrid White pads
3x LC 5" Hybrid Black pads
Iron X
(I already have good clay I like)
Wolfgang Uber Compound
Megs 205
Menzerna SP4500
Pinnacle Black Label Cleansing Polish
Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Surface coating
Lots of Brand new Super Plush and Gold Plush Jr. towels
2 gallons of Megs Last Touch and a sprayer
Some Pinnacle Rinseless Wash with Carnauba.
A pot of PB Natty's Blue - getting low on funds here, LOL!
AND the most important part: The week after Christmas without the 14 month old to spend on the car by myself. For those of you that don't understand, this is the golden-gold! You cannot pass up opportunities like this. My goal was to get that finish as close to perfect as little-old-me was able to make it.
I have been looking forward to this week more than Christmas itself.
Then, the unthinkable happens: A landscaping truck with a trailer puts the trailer wheels over the center line as I am driving past him (opposite directions) and sprays my driver's side with the sandy, rocky gravel and salt built up in the middle of the road from last weekend's storms
I had 2 very small chips I was willing to live with. Now I have about 8. to be fair, they are tiny, but they stand out worse than any RIDS on the paint to me.
The car is a 2008 Challenger SRT8 in Brilliant Black. For those that don't know, it's a black with metal flake that is clear coated. I baby this car. I park in the back of every lot, don't have one door ding, dent, or any other major flaw on the outside of the vehicle.
I've never done touch up before. Watched a bunch of videos, read lots of threads here, and I'm trying to decide is I should live with it, or attempt a repair. If I repair it, it's a no-go for my Week-O'-Fun, no polishing or coating.
If I do fix the paint chips, what system or techniques works best with Black Metal flake and clear?
If I decide to live with it, polish and coat it, how hard is it going to be to fix later with the Black Label Surface Coating on it?
What should I do?
