I have the flex rotary polisher. I also have these pads.

CCS 7.5 foam pads, lake country 7.5 inch pads, 7 inch ccs foam pads, ccs pads by lake country, lake country mfg, lake country manufacturing

I find them more difficult to use, they tend to grab and walk on the paint. I was assuming these....
3M Perfect It Polishing Pad, Double Sided Foam Pad, Perfect It Foam Polishing Pad

Or a more flat pad, would be easier to use. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Thanks

BTW, I use my DA 7424 for finishing after the rotary. I still inflict some hologramming on the paint with the rotary and I think it might be the fact that those curved pads like to move around more. Or maybe it's just me.

For rotary I like the LC Kompressor pads. I also like the 3M pads.

Give a shot at some 6.5 pads! They are super easy to use on the rotary! 7.5 pads and 8 inch are just suitable for flat roofs and flat hoods!

I like the LC VC pads the best(not sold here) The Kompressors are good choice also!!

Is their something I can try if the LC VC are not available at autogeek.net yet?

:iagree: 6.5" pads will be a lot easier to control. I use LC 6.5" CCS pads on my Makita without any problems.

I get my VC pads from Poorboysworld.com. I really wish AG would carry these pads. I have to assume that Poorboys has some sort of exclusive agreement to carry these pads because I can't find any other source for them other than buying a case directly from LC (LC calls them 6" VC, PBs calls them 5.5" VC for Flex Polishers).

I recently bought some regular old orange LC flat 6.5" and cyan Hydrotech 6.5" pads for rotary use. They seem a little stiffer than I like but I think they will soften up a bit as they are used.

I don't care for the big curved CCS pads either.

I procured a LC Kompressor pad. Like many people reviewed, it tore apart with very light pressure. I can't seam to find the VC for Flex on poorboysworld. I see one for the flex forced DA.. Still stuck with these curved CCS pads, and they stink!

gibbs try the 3m pads the 6" ones... you will like them....i use the 6" ultrafina pads only for finishing

some tips not related to the pad being used but will work for you..

if you insist on using flat pads 5,5 flat pad will work with no buffer hops compared to bigger flat ones... so dont get bigger than that..flat pad is harder to use with rotary as theres no room to dissipate heat compared to wool.. thats why manufacturers come with all those fancy waffle/cubes designs to reduce heat and buffer hop

Dave KG recommends working smaller area if you get hopping and if necessary try wetting the surface... but not too much as it will compromise cut

Rickrack recommends working the rotary at a slight angle tilt the side closest to you..He claimed it will make it easier to control even though the adage for polishing is..to keep the pad flat at all times..I think it has truth in it as a tilt will give room similar to the waffle/cube design principle..

i would also recommend you to give another try on the kompressors..maybe the less aggressive ones or use different polish..i never used them..but many i know swears by them...

now i want to get the VC pads ^^

Jeremy,

A rotary polisher is a very powerful tool. This power combined with a rotating foam pad and large surface area is the reason you find it difficult to control. Many here including myself find a rotary polisher allot more friendly when switching to a smaller diameter pad.

I use Lake Country Kompressor pads exclusively on my rotary polishers and find they work very well. Make sure you keep enough product on the pad so that it rotates freely and doesn't become tacky. This is when the foam pads tend to fail and teat apart.

Well, the Kompressor was a used pad. A friend gave it to me to try. Maybe I will pick up a set. I also try to be very aware of product on the pad. I try to make sure it doesn't get to dry or to saturated.

I prefer 5.5" pads on my flex rotary. It is all personal preference of course, but I have good results with the CCS pads. I want to try the Kompressor pads one day.
