I am about to start work on a Scion tC. The rubber around the rear window is in poor shape - it is stained and generally rough. What is the best approach to use?

Exposure to the sun and not being cleaned very often.

Something like Black Wow Pre-Clean would work great, then use then treat with Black Wow or a rubber protectant. WGETS and OPT Opti-Bond are my two fav ext. trim protectants.
Also, for cleaning rubber, I found a rubber cleaner for RV roofs. It can be diluted and is safe on paint, or can be used straight with no really concerns. I found it at Walmart in the RV section, next to the automotive section.
One thing I have seen done is using a polish that has minimal oils in it to actually polish the rubber trim. If the rubber is very brittle you will probably have to clean it after polishing to remove any sign of polishing oils.
Hope this helps.:)
