Rupes felt ring

I just performed the KB washer mod to all 3 of my Rupes polishers. 15, 21 & 75. Remove the backing plate & no felt ring on either machine. Did Rupes stop putting the felt ring on their polishers after a certain date? I bought mine in Jan. '15. Just curious because I've seen vids of Mike here on AG where the felt ring is in place.
 
The felt ring you are referring to is on the Flex 3401 and not the Rupes Machines
 
The rupes don't have the washer because they have a soft start so the full energy is only applied when pressure is on the polisher. That's what I remember hearing from the rupes president.

My bad, thanks for clearing that up. The 3401 should be on my doorstep Friday, along with some other goodies.
 
I have been reading the Rupes/Flex debates for a while now. I absolutely love my Rupes machines, (21, 15 & 75). Upon the release of the HD units, I found myself wanting one of those. Since I already have the Rupes, I figured I would get the Flex HD 3401, & have my own comparison. I sold one of my old GG6 after I took delivery of the Rupes, but I don't think I will be parting with any of those. The Flex is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.
