Don t know , but I would take it with the 15 % discount .
usually there are 1-2 at most , sales a year with no restrictions where u can pluck up a polisher or some other goodies that are usually restricted by all the other sales that ag puts out practically monthly . sometimes maybe even the VIP would be a polisher . have to watch the sales . if I remember any time there was a no restriction sale it was only for 1 day or for a set amount of hours . are u signed up to receive the newsletter and VIP ? just have to wait it out and hope for a nr sale or fork over the moola .
It's defective. There should be a difference in speed. Where did you buy it from? I don't think there's a US service center yet, but the store you bought it from should replace it if it's within 30 days.Just got my Rupes LHR21....Amazing machine...used it after i 2k grit wet sanded a hood full of scratches...
I noticed that from speed 3 to 6 there is no difference is this normal?
I used a MF pad and a Foam pad..same results no speed increase between setting 3 through 6.
not sure if this is defective and should contact the sellers customer service.
Thanx In Advance

Verified through e-mail correspondence with Marco D'Inca, the engineer that designed the BigFoot:
Kevin:
"Could you please explain the speed setting dial?
It is not linear, and although there may be an increase in RPM above 4.5 to 5.0, it is seemingly imperceptible."
Marco:
"The speed setting is not linear. What is linear is the RMS voltage output.
This makes the wheel more sensitive on lower speed settings, and more accurate near the maximum speed settings."
And there you have it!
Your machine is not defective at all they all do this as I was concerned as well with mine. I did some digging around a little while ago as Bunky (Al) had the same concern and this is what I found from Kevin Brown:
Your Machine is fine!rops:
I just went outside and plugged it in and ran it on a hood,
Seems to me without a load the speed is noticeable 3-6, but with a load on it...no speed noticeability at all 3-6.

With the Rupes you do not need very much downward pressure on the head of the machine like you do with a normal DA
Take variable assist power steering. When you're going slow it has tons of assist so you don't have to crank on the steering wheel to get the front wheels to turn. Yet when you're traveling at expressway speeds the boost is cut way down, yet the 'feel' of the wheel is more precise.
IOW's.... if the wheel was as easy to turn at 70 miles an hour, and the front wheels moved as easily as they do at 5 miles an hour you'd end up driving into a bridge with very little steering input. As it is, very slight input gives very PRECISE output at greater speeds.
From the statements made in what I have found it seems as if the machine is more accurate at the higher end even though you don't see the increase in speed.
So unlike your typical DA you not going to see a steady increase of speed.
This is a quote on the topic from Cardaddy (tony) and it helps you understand the true meaning of this speed dial blunder.:
Then explain why my 21 doesn't increase in speed or sound between 4.5 and 6? Yet my friends 21 does. How can two same model machines work differently?
I know my polisher doesn't increase in speed from 4.5 - 6 and I foud this to be strange upon my first use if the machine that's when I went searching and I found a thread over at Autopia that other users were wondering this same thing.
Kevin then contacted the designer and engineer of the polisher and that's what he had stated.
From all that I have seen there should be no noticeable speed change form those settings.
If be very interested to see how those to polisher differ with the speed settings.
When you seen the Rupes that your friend has was it while polishing? Does he have the washer mod?
The speed dial at those setting seems to be more focused on the RMS watts than the speed and RPMs of the backing plate.
I haven't used any yet I am tomorrow however and it will be the Meg's MF discs. I have some BnS MF I'm going to give a go as well.
When using the MF discs remember that heat kills the pads. Clean them after every section you do.
