I have an 2014 Audi Q5 that got tree sap on it and I have tried claying, polish/compounding with an orange pad and a DA polisher, bug and tar remover and all this combined did very little to remove the sap. Any suggestions? It's the wife's car. Thanks

I use 1st wax butter wax or other put a litle dot on mf then gently rub ,work on that and wipe off

Must be some super hard sap. I remove hardened pine tree sap with CarPro Tar remover. You may have to spray it a few times. Try spraying the tar and spraying on a MF towel and laying on top of the tar. Make sure to rinse the tar remover off very well. This should be all you need remove the tar, but if all else fails try a plastic razor blade.

Rubbing alcohol on a microfiber then wax/seal it

All you need is denatured alcohol. If you look in your Audi owner's manual it might even recommend this as part of the routine paint washing and care instructions.

Pour some denatured alcohol on a soft microfiber towel. Place the towel on the spot of sap and let it dwell for about 15 seconds. You'll then be able to wipe it away effortlessly. If you are gentle enough it will not mar the finish and you will be left with zero residue. This works on fresh sap as well as dried, baked on sap. Also, if the sap is from a pine tree sometimes turpentine works a little better; however, in my experience denatured alcohol works the best in almost any situation regardless of the type of sap involved.

If there is a stain in the paint after you wipe away the glob of sap it will usually go away within a few days as the organic material degrades from UV exposure. If the stain doesn't go away the sap might have fractured the binder/resin linkages in the clear coat... this is not repairable and usually only happens if the sap has been stuck on the paint for several weeks or months. If the paint is fractured you can see it under a magnifying glass or microscope it will look like the paint is cracking apart.

Stoners Tar remover, Spray let sit for 1-2 min wipe and wash with water.

I used a different clay product and got it off. Wife thinks it is from the roofing contractors at work. So it is most likely asphalt. Thanks for the suggestions. She does park under trees when going to her mothers house, so sap is what I thought it might be. Thanks again!

I use isopropyl alcohol and two mf towels. One wet with water and one for the alcohol. Dab and gently rub with alcohol and immediately wipe ("rinse") with wet towel. Repeat until it's gone.
