I just bought a Simoniz premium car cover. It's made by Sidewind. It only says 3 layer fabric and it's taupe. I paid 120$ for it. Just wondering if I should expect scratch on my paint while using this car cover or not ??

Do someone ever experimented scratch while using their car cover !?

a scratch from what....the car cover? or are you asking if its going to protect the paint from scratches? if youre talking about from the actual cover then no..the side you put on the car should be soft or furry or whatever they use

it should pretty much give you a good buffer against anything that would scratch...unless something scraped it really hard it would probably gouge the paint instead im guessing

I'm wondering if car cover fabric can be so cheap to the point they would scratch the paint.

well im sure it could if it was that rough of fabric...but its not being rubbed hard on your paint or anything and like i said the back side should be softer than the outside

I highly recommend NOT using a cover on a daily driver. The problem is the car will get dirty from driving it and the cover will get dirty from just the dirt/dust it collects while being on your car. Top that off with trying to do a one man wrestling show trying to put that thing on every morning and you are certain to get scratches. The best thing you can do IMPO is to keep a good coat of protection on your paint and get your windows tinted to keep youir leather protected

I would only use a car cover on a car that is driven only ocasionally. Even then the car should be washed after every outing and the cover should be clean periodically. You would be surprised how much dust a cover attracks just sitting in a clean garage

You should also have at least two ppl when installing a cover. Four ppl would be even better. What your trying to accomplish is to set the cover over the car, not drag it across the car

Hope this made sense

Good advice Flash..not to mentioned the wind.

Flash is right. Unless you're gonna wash the car every time you wanna put the cover on you'll be covered in scratches in no time.

Very true. Try putting a Covercraft cover a Dodge Dakota by your self. I have done it. Great cover and fits like a glove.

I had also bought a cover from a local parts place (4 sizes for all cars). It did not fit so getting it on was a hassle too. It does not want to stay on without a bungie.

I would never use a car cover, no matter how soft it feels if the car is parked outside. Wind will cause billowing of the cover and blow dust/dirt up under the cover. Then, as the wind driven billowing continues, the "soft" cover abaids the paint. During my years of employment at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, some reservists would put covers over their cars that were parked on base for several days (sometimes weeks). What a nasty surprise they had when they returned. Some of the covers even partially blew off the cars, inflicting even more damage as they now whipped around in the wind. Not much I, as a bystander could do since the covers were cable locked onto the cars. It hurt to watch.

As everyone else has said. Don't bother. The cover will collect dirt and eventually scratch your car. The wind whipping it around while on will cause problems too.

Have you tried removing a cover in a heavy downpour.. and then try folding it up.
