hello
yesterday i was machine polishing my dads GMC used light cutting pad and swirl x - scratch X and the car turned awesome removed all swirls and scratches
but the same products with the same technique used on my corvette 1998 with the same deepness of the scratches but i didnt removed any thing from the corvette
then i used yellow ccs cutting pad and ultimate compound and still nothing happened
i dont know why
is it the clear coat on my corvette very very hard?
what should i do?

Get some Meguiar's M-105 and work in a very small 12"x12" work section, continuing to compound and check your work until you dial in your process and achieve the desired results. Once you get the desired results in your test section, move on to another 12"x12" work section and continue repeating this until the entire car has been corrected.

A lot of Corvettes have ridiculously hard clear coat. A lot of guys use Surbuf pads or microfiber pads with great success on Corvette paint. In my opinion/experience there is no substitute for M-105 when working on hard Corvette paint. Good Luck.

:iagree: with Dave here.I've had real good luck using Mf pads on hard clears.M105 and D300 mixed really works wonders...keeps the 105 dusting down and allows you to work a little longer to remove your defects.

but isnt that (ultra cut compound )going to be strong on the clear? and which pad should i use with m105 - microfiber pads ?

thank you very much

You want it to be "strong" to get your swirls out. If you mean "harsh" the abrasive size on M105 is very small and it usually finishes out very well on hard clears, but you may have to follow up with something.

As far as the pad, you could use yellow, orange, Surbuf, MF...it depends what you have and what you want to buy. With the Hydro-Tech and Hybrid pads the colors have changed a little, but you probably want to do a test spot with a light-cutting pad, and if that's not "cutting" it move to a cutting pad.

corvette 1998 with the same deepness of the scratches

what should i do?

-Take care when trying to remove scratches wherein you can catch your fingernail!
-You, your scratches-scenario, and remediation of said scratches, may differ from my approach;
but, 'Alas and Alack'...I've a few scratches I'm learning to live with...for awhile.

is it the clear coat on my corvette very very hard?

Probably...I know mine is...

I still find Menzerna SIP and 085rd are two perfect polishes for Vettes coating and repairing.
