Hello,

I am a newbie so this question might seems weird but here it goes ;)

I love Nu Finish, it does a great job and is cheap. Latelly I have been watching a lot of videos and some of them use seriously expensive stuff (Ammo Skin comes to mind).

What are the differences between a product like Ammo Skin, or Jetseal 109 and Nu Finish? Is it worth the extra money?

Opinions vary. But it's been my experience that you get what you pay for in the majority of cases when it comes to automotive products. That being said most of the products you can get at AG are FAR superior to Nu Finish both in longevity and finishing ability. I'd guess that most of what's in Nu finish is filler giving you the illusion of correction when all it really does is mask the problem. But if you like it rock on- personally I wouldn't put Nu Finish on a Huffy let alone my or a customers car. Different strokes for different folks.... cheers!!

The ease of application and the durability of high end sealants is worth the money for me! No doubt!
I have never used the particular products you mention however. I figure I spent about $60,000 on my current vehicles, whats $50 for protection?

In general, the more expensive products usually are more state-of-the-art formulas. They "tend" to be easier to work with if you know what you are doing, they tend to have much more slickness, gloss, and/or durability. However, in addition to the "you get what you pay for" mantra, that doesn't always mean "you get what you were looking for". A simple product like Collinite 845, 915 and the like throw those boutique-lovin arguments for a tailspin. At the end of the day, it sometimes comes down to personal preference.

I have a mix of expensive and very affordable products; and there isn't anything on my shelves I wouldn't use on a vehicle.

I used to use everyday over the counter products myself and thought the car looked great after a fresh wash and wax. But after using good quality products found here and doing the process the right way, my cars look great even when they are dirty. Your car will shine like never before if you take time to do it correctly and use good quality products.

NuFinish is hard to beat for durability and protection. Looks aren't its strong suit and many other products are much easier to use.

There are 3 main things I look for when considering LSP and in the following order.

1. Protection
2. Application
3. Looks

I agree. My vehicles also look clean even when dirty since I moved up in products.

It was said "you get what you pay for with automotive products", well that's true in some cases but NOT in the case of Duragloss products, that's for sure! Price per ounce, DG outperforms and outshines products costing 10x's its price and that's no bull either! Even when buting/using #601 in the mix its still a bargain, something I suggest using for sure.

+!00, Polished my car about 4-5 weeks ago with M205, sealed with WG DGP 3.0 and even with all the road dirt and rain we have been having, still shines like it was freshly waxed. The paint is still even pretty smooth, you can feel the grit on top of it, but it is no longer embedded.
Great Products = Great Results.

:iagree:

Actually I stayed away from DG for years BECAUSE it was so cheap I figured it was just hype. Old dog... new tricks. ;)

Mike Phillips is the author of the following, excellent parable:

"Find something you like and use often".

If you have a moment, OP...Check out this thread of Mr. Phillips:

As far as I'm concerned...Nothing wrong with Nu-Finish.

It's been around for awhile with a proven track record...
And is formulated by a respected chemical company.

Ok thanks everyone.

I guess the best thing would be for me to try something else and see if I prefer it over Nu Finish.

For the sealant, in my mind Protection and durability comes first. I am new to this but the way I understand this, the sealant's job is to protect and the wax's job is to enhance the look. Maybe after trying Jetseal 109 or some other sealant I will want to switch... who knows? ;)

I will read that post from Mike too, thanks for the link Funx725.

I guess I'm not sure what "Boutique Wax" means exactly?

It means your money may be getting separated from your wallet at a ratio that is disproportionate from the rate that is proper for a well performing wax selling at a MUCH lower price point that in all likelihood will perform just as good, and have absolutely no visible differences to the human eye when used on 'real world' vehicles. ;)

+1 On a properly prepared and polished car the look of DG 105 is hard to beat for a sealant, but if you want to add another layer and top it with Collinite 476 I find it hard to believe that most people could tell the difference (or beat the durability) between this low cost solution and some high end products.

Got it. I use Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax for my "real world" customers and my "tight-wad" high end customers. Appearance is exceptional, very easy to work with, durability is about average for a wax in that price range. (I mean, you wouldn't expect it to set like concrete like Crystal Rock or anything.) Just for fun and out of boredom, I polished the hood of my 2012 4-Runner to "perfection" a while ago. I applied Butter Wet Wax to one half and E-Zyme Natura to the other half. There really was no comparison. Natura won hands down in all categories. Too bad I didn't take any pictures or videos. I'll do it again sometime :dblthumb2:

Cheers!

It's all personal preference. You have to try stuff out. I love CG jetseal proven track record a bit expensive side but it works and it lasts long works well on all colored cars. I also use there MSeal. I have had it last 3 months on my wifes family hauler. 2 coats of Mseal, two coats of wax outside kept. Failure started around 3rd week of the 2nd month. I also like BF wet diamond.
