I would think that a tombstone formed from stone or granite, and having already been around for millions of years, would get a chuckle from man's feeble attempt to help it protect itself from the elements.....
Headstones aren't naturally shiny, they are polished. Also some have paint in the lettering and staining can occur.

A sealant would certainly hinder the weathering in the short-term.
Now if you could only set up a schedule for reapplication for the next few thousand years........![]()

I know about the reissues-- not sure about the CS part
I know this has nothing to do with cars but would adding sealant to a tombstone keep it from weathering as much?
