I have a 2 and 4 year old and the kids can't keep their little booger pickers off the SS appliances. I was wondering if cleaning then sealing the surface would protect it or make it quicker to clean....thoughts?

You sure can! I've added layer of BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Metal Acrylic Sealant to all my SS appliances. I've noticed a significant decrease in smudges and cleaning is a breeze. Plus a little goes a long way, so a single bottle will last you a long time.

I truly don't believe there's anything that will considerably lessen fingerprints on SS. Don't know if I would go to the length of applying some fancy paint coating, not sure what that would do?

There is such a thing as a dedicated polish-cleaner for SS in aerosol cans. Works about the best IMO.

Maybe Angus' tip is a good one to try?

I have CG Wheelguard and their Mseal. Maybe a "test spot" LOL

Meg's D120 Glass Cleaner works well for removing any dirt and greasy fingerprints. The wife likes to apply D156 Synthetic X-press Spray Wax every couple weeks to make subsequent cleaning easier.

Actually after trying several SS cleaners my wife found that just a rag damp with warm/hot water works better than anything. She also made the comment that the cleaners actually make it smudge much worse. I wipe an appliance down once in a while and it cleans very easily and doesn't leave any streaks etc. when done.

When we first bought our first SS fridge years ago, the salesman was demo'ing this aerosol can which he says is the only thing that works. What a crock. My wife found that a daily wipe with a damp MF cloth is all you need. My kids are older than yours, but that just means the smudges and handprints are higher up.
