In this test, I will be following the durability of 3 sealants. I read another thread somewhere involving 30+ sealants and it was just too much for me. I plan to use no boosters, just some DP rinseless washes and waterless washes depending on the weather.

The Sealants
DP Poli-Coat
Menzerna Power Lock
Prima Epic

clayed w/ DP clay and DP rinseless mixed as clay lube
polished w/ Menzerna Super Finish
wiped it down w/ some PB's Spray and Wipe WW

here's the setup

The DP has some bonding agents in it so i decided to help out the Epic by using Prima's paint cleaner,Amigo. Menzerna doesn't make a specific paint cleaner that I know about so I went without, I don't see this being a big deal.

Each product applied easily with the red CCS foam apps I used. Power Lock was the thinnest of the group, with the other 2 being almost identical in consistency. The Power Lock and Epic both came off with ease while the DP needed a little extra effort, not tough to remove by any means.

I plan to update at least monthly and whenever there's some good weather and I can get pics.

:)

Subsrcribed!!
Just keep in mind the two sealant applied to the middle of the hood may not demonstrate there durability against the others. The heat from the hood somtimes does tricky things during a test like this. But otherwise I am interested in seeing the results during a New England winter. Keep the updates coming!

Look forward to your test buddy! Unfortunately I dont own any of the contenders.

Makes good sense, maybe I'll try going across the hood another time. As for an update, 3 3 day and everything's good!haha

snowking724,

how long did you wait before you wiped off the power lock? I plan on using some this weekend.
thanks

Just to chime in...

Nice test in that you're using a flat surface that you can look down on and a dark colored paint. This will make detecting differences easier in all aspects.

I don't care that much about wax test anymore except they're fun to read.

This should be a good test. Thanks for doing this Tim!!!

I did this mainly for fun. I put a fresh coat of something on way before anything is usually gone. Plus, I thought this would be a fun first non-question type post. So far it is, people are interested and I'm having fun looking for more than just shine on the truck. Also, I let the power lock haze for 30 to 35 mins, comes off so easy.

Thanks for this most excellent test. I don't have any of the three, but I'll be following your test. My moneys on the DP

This is the same thing I did but on a larger scale with Rejex and 2 other CG's sealants.
(Drivers side,Passenger side,and roof)

I'm subscibed to the thread as well. The outcome should be interesting.
Thank You for the test and follow-up's.

Sub A Dub Dub!! Thanks CEE for doing this!!

Im interested as well and like mike stated, there just fun to read! A guy on youtube from another forum did a test with 4 different products to, but it was a blind test and never said who the winner was till the end(just that there was Section 1, 2, 3, and 4, which i think the test for for 6weeks, i think, if memory serves correctly!!

My guess was right on the winner at the end..... He made sure he tryed to keep it all fair and did "other" tests as well. Like "drag test" to see the slickness of the surface as well as many others to see what else would affect it..... Products were anywere from $15 - $80! Funny how it changed ppls minds on certain products tho. You know, the "die hard fans" of X product! Just like the Blind Samples Thread!!

I'm in too!

Can't wait for Boston's winter weather!

I can't wait for the SNOW! Good plowing $$$ and well,it's snow, it's just fun!

Two weeks in and everything still looks great. It's been pretty much all rain since I applied and everything still beads great. I did a waterless wash with the new Ultima(stuff is great) and the DP was the only section with some difficulty removing all residue. The hood is still very slick all around.

I am right there with you, I love the snow; I don't plow, but I do have a Subaru with Blizzaks :)

We had about 100'' last winter, it was a blast. The only thing I don't like about the snow is how much it costs to remove (I sit on our town home board).

I plow for a large company and snow is one of the biggest expenses. I'm not complaining since I get OT for it.

Update

Some beading pics after 3 weeks and quite a bit of rain.

And here's the GF's Fusion sporting some DP Poli-Coat and Fuzion:laughing:, nothing to do with the test just some nice beading.
