Sealants: Opti-seal, jetseal 109, griot's garage gg

Ive been reading more about this Optimum brand, seems its OPC APC is the truth. However it's other products aren't as popular. I'm looking for a strong, long lasting sealant. I'm down to the 3 choices in title.

GG specifies one year of protection. JS109 and Opti don't specify. I've used JS 109 in past and was very happy, but it's the most expensive one of the bunch and requires 2 coats. Also seems like it's a once a year sealant. Opti seems like it's a wax replacement meant to last a few months. It's also very inexpensive. Almost too inexpensive, and can treat 40 vehicles per bottle, and we all know about getting what you pay for.

Has anyone used the GG sealant? I kinda prefer to stick to one brand, just kinda OCDish I know, but I like GG.
 
Opti-Seal is mind blowing awesome!
Never thought that 8oz bottle would last forever, hehe.

I haven't tried Griot's before, and the CG stuff is just "meh" in my opinion (except the Tar shampoo and the air fresheners)...
 
Personally, I've never used Jet-Seal or Griot's. If you've found that Griot's sealer works and you like it then stay with it, there's nothing wrong with doing that...

Optimum makes some great products and their Opti-Seal is no exception. Stepping up to Optimum Opti-Coat might be the best protection with minimum maintenance...

Yea I'm interested in the Opti coat too, but they said its a permanent solution so that's only something I'd do when a car is fully corrected.

I'm just looking for the long lasting, 6mo to 1year, sealants for maintenance detailing.

Guess I'll just have to try Opti seal anyway, cheap enough to do so.
 
OOS is a versatile product within the OPT line.

This is the way that I look at the situation hand. I can wash a vehicle , apply OOS, and chill.
If I choose - I can top with OCW. All within a two hour window of dragging out the hose. Done.

OR- I can wash a vehicle , apply OCW, and chill. But, if I want to apply OOS any time after OCW - I can. It doesn't matter.
Don't know about the 109 or the GG, but if they were as versatile I would not be responding now.

If you are considering OOS, and, or, the OPT line - but have your doubts, then PM Chris@Optimum or give DR. G a call himself. That's what I did. Not only were they extremely helpful, but they were not pushing product - just answering my concerns and questions.
As far as maintenance detailing goes, seems like a no brainer if you're servicing customers bi -monthly. WOWA maintenance is a breeze.
 
I seem to get 8 months or more out of Griot's Paint Sealant. I believe it to be the longest lasting sealant.
 
I've used the GG sealant on a few cars and jet skis with great durability. I haven't tried topping it with a wax though I'd still like to try that to see if it enhances any depth.
 
Any chance you guys can make videos showing sheeting or beading of GG sealant?
 
I think expectations of one year durability are highly optimistic for any of the products unless the car is a garage queen. I love Opt-Seal but I've only used v.1 and longevity is not its strong suit. I get two to maybe four month durability for non-garaged daily drivers. It does, however, go on quicker and easier than any competing product in my experience. The new v.2 OS is supposed to extend the longevity and cure faster but I haven't used it.
CG Jet Seal did not impress me on any parameter including longevity.
I have not used Griot's sealant. I like some of their products very much while others strike me as lame (wax, HD wheel cleaner).
Blackfire and Mezerna PowerLock are both very good but you can realistically expect four or five month durability. Duragloss is in that ballpark too. If you do the full 501-601-105(x2) program you might get six months but not a year on a daily driven car.
I would be completely shocked if the Griot's sealant actually lasts a full year.
 
I used the Griots Garage Sealant and got no more than what I felt was about 3months out of it. I'm not a chemist, but I have a hard time believing you will get 1 year of good looks and protection out of the product. I know for sure you will not get good looks and slickness for more than 2 months out of it. Atleast on my car, which is actually a garage queen..

The first 4 sealants that BobbyG posted are ones that I would also highly recommend. They are all simple to use.

I would recommend in no specific order

-Menzerna Power Lock
Menzerna Power Lock Polymer Paint Sealant, Menzerna auto sealant, car sealant, paint sealant protectant

-Blackfire Wet Diamond
BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection, paint sealant, synthetic sealant, blackfire sealant

-Wolfgang DGPS
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant delivers a deep, wet, liquid shimmer unlike anything you can imagine.

In my experience these are the best looking and lasting sealants available. I'm sure there are a couple more, but these are the ones I prefer to use.

And then for wheels, glass and metal I prefer to use a product that was specifically designed to be used in those area's.
RejeX Paint Sealant, auto paint sealant, plastic sealant, wheel sealant, paint protectant, rejects, rejexs


Each one of these sealants has the potential to give you 6 months of protection if treated correctly.

It was mentioned earlier, if you are truly wanting 1 year out of a sealant without having to touch the paint, I would strongly recommend CQuarts coating.

I would highly doubt the griots sealant lasts a year, but it's pretty durable so far.
