Sema 2025

New brushes - BOSS brush system with detachable grip. 5 different brush designs with multiple sizes for each. Can identify brushes with colored rings to identify application. Straight extension and angled segment. Avail ~year end/early 26
Also, the handle/brush head are separate, so can be swapped.

Not sure I like the idea though? They mention saving money when replacement time comes around, which I believe, but I'm not sure it will be practical for most people to buy 1 or 2 brush heads at a time?

Theres also the fact that unscrewing/screwing brushes together while detailing is an extra step...

And the handle for the detailing/interior brushes looks wide to me, something that I think is good for holding in your palm but maybe not with your fingers? I think I do both, so I hope the grip is comfortable enough in both ways of holding.

😄 maybe I've become jadded a bit, but brands are at the point with a new product being adding a scent, or color or adding a different colored mitt or sponge. Everyone wants to refresh to stay at the top of the page, but it's getting harder to come up with new products.
One goal is to have something new to feed all the YT and other social media influencers (some like carnival barkers). The enthusiast community lives on new with money to spend. So when a typical customer uses up V1 and ready to make a new purchase there is the incentive for V2 rather than trying another brand.

Seems like a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist. The handles could be very nice but I'm not sure selling a brush with a threaded connection will be that much cheaper than one with a handle. You'd definitely want a bunch of handles so you're not spending all your time swapping. The ability to add extensions to make the handle longer could be useful for some situations tho.

The Meguiar's brush line that came out in 2004 and only 2004 had the same kind of feature, removable heads, which was of limited utility, and arguably was a negative as the snap-in connection loosened up through use (of the brush, not the removable feature), making the head less secure. In theory you could swap longer and shorter handles on the same brush head, but I'm not sure in reality that was really a desirable feature, although now that I'm thinking about it using the shorter handle from the tire brush might work better with the wheel face brush...

In looking for a picture of the detachable head, I found this article by David Bynon, the original owner of Autopia: https://www.peachparts.com/diy/detailing/detailing.php?location=55

Meguiars have new pads and bottle sizes of compounds and polishes. And a new tire shine.

A bit more info on the new iBrid (no SEMA for me this year; someone has to keep the lights on back in the real world!)

Gtechniq GT-ONE - seems like a CanCoat type of product

Because the Meguiar's lineup NEEDED another tire shine.

What's the bet its the same as the rest of the tire shines, just with a different name and label. They are really working hard over there at Megs.

Two new products from Carpro launched for Sema week.

IronX Limescale - A new combined iron remover and mineral deposit remover. Apparently less stinky than typical iron remover.

GofX - This is a new glass polish, which compared to CeriGlass, doesn't contain Cerium Oxide. I'd say this is more in line with P&S Clarity Cream, basically a deep cleaner for glass. For anyone who has used CeriGlass will know why this is a good thing. Apparently, this is better option for new glass or light refreshment.

Application seems to be very easy. Unless in full sun, you can coat the entire car before buffing any residue.

Via Sky's the Limit:
  1. Wrap a 4" Microfiber Suede around the black side of the applicator block or use the Microfiber Applicator.
  2. Shake CQUARTZ Lite 2.0 and carefully open the lid, always pointing AWAY from your face.
  3. Drag or drip one or two lines of product across the applicator.
  4. Spread across paint in an overlapping circular pattern approximately 2 sq ft at a time.
  5. Move to next section and repeat.
  6. Make note of how long it has been since you began applying, and make sure to wipe off all residue within 5 ~ 30 minutes. (If using in the sun or high heat, then keep it to 5 minutes.)
  7. An additional coat may be applied if you wish within 45-60 minutes of the start of the first.

Would you use this for removing a small area of mineral deposits? (such as if a sprinkler got one side of the car)

Chelsea, THOR affiliated, and Kristi (never heard of her) are going to be starting a new "Honest Car Care" detailing. THOR continues the Proctor and Gamble approach of flooding the market with brands. With a name like that, is there not honest car care detailing.

Woah, that is an actual article, not a 1-minute read article that I seem to see more often these days :coffee:

There are some interesting features of those brushes:
  • "The wheel brush, for example, has much longer bristles that are set at steep angles around the rim of the brush."
    • Bristle innovation, beyond just "synthetic/natural/softer" !?
  • "the Tire Brush, which has a row of soft, wheel-safe bristles guarding stiff bristles"
  • And more
Makes me real some of the detailing advancements I have seen have been done before, and I just didn't know it (not necessarily in the same form factors though).

Is Griots Garage going down a road paved by Meguiar's?

I've always wondered that, you know, videos with the heading/tagline of "My Honest Review of xyz".............like why would anyone want a dishonest review? Does this mean we now need each and every content creator to disclose if a review is being "honest" or "dishonest"? Or are all of the other reviewers posting dishonest reviews, but this one is and therefore needs to point this out?

Chelsea did decent reviews at the beginning, but since joining THOR I've unsubscribed and hardly watch.

As for Kristi and that girl from "Duck pond detailing" they just pedal the advertising to the SIMP followers.

Probably. However, I wonder how effective this combined product will be compared to a dedicated iron remover and dedicated water-spot remover. Kinda like TriX to TarX and IronX.
