Before I start, I just wanna establish that I don't detail for a living and have no intentions on doing so. It's really just something I've been messing around with on the side for fun/extra cash. That being said, I do want to get some pricing/packages set. My goal is to set things up to where everything is explained well while keeping things as simple as possible to keep from confusing people. I'll work on pricing later, but so far this is how I've been looking at setting things up (package "names" are just generic for now):

"Wash/wax"
Exterior Wash
Spray Wax
Windows
Tires Dressed
Door Jams Wiped Down

Quick Interior Vac
Windows
Wipedown of hard surfaces and any leather

"AIO"

Exterior Wash
Paint Decon
AIO applied via buffer
Windows
Tires Dressed
Door Jams Wiped Down

Thorough Interior Vac.
Windows
Hard surfaces and any leather wiped down and protectant applied

"One Step"
Exterior is same as previous except AIO is replaced by polish and a separate sealant applied. Trim is also restored if needed and dressed

Interior is same as previous

"Two Step"
Exterior same as previous with an added compound step

Interior same as previous

"Show Car"
Exterior Wash
Wheels removed and thoroughly cleaned/sealed
Wheel Wells Thoroughly cleaned and dressed
Engine Detailed
Trim restored/dressed
Paint Decon.
Paint corrected (minus any wet sanding and/or paint touch ups)
Paint Sealed
Door Jams Cleaned and Sealed

Interior is same as previous

"Add Ons"

Paint coating
Glass Coating
Wheel Coating
Engine Detail
High End Carnauba Wax

Any thoughts on things I should adjust or what I'm missing? Any package that has a "thorough interior vac" I'll spot treat any stains and see what I can get out, but I'm not offering full carpet shampoos as I just don't have the equipment for it right now and don't plan on making that investment any time soon.

You should consider decontaminating the paint with every package. Thats where the real wow factor comes in when your handing it back over. To save time with that step check out nanoskin wash mitts, they can cut claying down to about 15 minutes.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on decontaminating with every package, reason being if the paint is dark colored you may mar it while claying. Also, claying paint removes all the wax and protection and I don't feel a spray wax would be a good enough coating of protection on a paintwork with its short life span but that's just my .02.

This was kinda along my line of thought why I didn't offer the paint decon with the wash/wax

I offer 1 package (w/ optional upgrades). That cuts down on confusion

But its a great idea to use your knowledge to setup a business with it. Once I have collected enough data, I am thinking about starting something in my area.

Some people will have a set budget in mind. If you cannot up sell them for their particular vehicle's needs, either give them what they are asking for (don't work for free!) or let them take their cheap ass elsewhere! Lol!

If I'm asked to do anything more than a wash and dressings, decon is mandatory or I will respectfully decline the job if the customer does not want to pay. A while back when I first decided to offer detail services I had a customer bring me his car for a wash, interior, and AIO paint work. He said he had already washed and clayed the car and wouldn't pay for me to do it again. So I said, "OK no problem and thought "easy money". WRONG! Paint still had contaminants which caused marring and ruined a few of my new pads. I called the customer to explain and he told me to, "just finish it and call him when it's done"! Long story short, He wasn't happy with the results, wouldn't pay, and I was out time, product, and a few pads. NEVER AGAIN! Lol!

3 price points, people like options. But remember....those options cost money.

Youd like me to detail on saturday mr. Client? No problem, but there is a weekend rate.
Always say yes, but that 'yes' isnt free.

I dont offer an AIO. Paint decontamination is seperate as is paint correction. Its ur job to educate ur clients.

ive explained countless times that water spog removal isnt part of my basic detail. A customer thinks 'detail' and its usually some all inclusive thing. Be honest be specific.

I had the problem of givjng away services when I first started out. Lol....I wanted every wash n wax to look like a show car....I was so stupid...haha.
