I have some scratches to touch up on a black car. I have a Flex 3401 VRG and I'm using Menzerna SF4500 (PO85rd). The speed recommended here on the Geek website is...Polish at 1200-1800 RPM (5000-6000 OPM on a dual action polisher). What speed does that relate to on the Flex? That is what number do I use? 1-6 is what's on the knob? I'm using a grey LakeCountry CSS pad. Thanks in advance for the help. :xyxthumbs:

Someone asked a similar question a couple months ago...the conversion was on the machine itself. I think that was the rotary though...may not be on the DA.

If you're trying to jewel the paint to maximize gloss and clarity, try using the 3-4 setting.

The tool is easier to control at higher speeds but you don't want to be maxed out in OPM's for the last machine polishing step.

Be sure to clean your pad often too, remove any excess product from the face of the pad and make sure the body panels and all the cracks and crevices are surgically clean.

:)

Thanks for the FAST responses. I'll post some pictures afterward.

Be aware that while you will love the finished result, technically speaking ...... because you are using a CCS pad you will have a slightly longer buffing cycle (compared to a flat pad). With this in mind I will typically start off with a speed of 4.5-5 for the first half of the buffing cycle and then the second half 3.5 to 4.5. If I were using a flat pad, then I will use 4 across the entire buffing cycle.
