Hey guys!

Im currently building a new Detail shop that im gonna be moving to after 4+ years at the shack im in currently. lol. My question is... what type of overhead lighting would be the best to run in my building? I want something that not only will give me enough to see what imperfections are most noticeable in the paint, but also will give me the most accurate amount of light to mimic sunlight for the interiors as well. The worst thing is being done with a detail to notice a few things you couldnt see as soon as you pull it into the sunlight. Please let me know, any suggestions would be great. I am gonna be chosing my lighting this week and am also meeting with my electrician to run the wiring for the building as well! Thanks again

Whatever lighting you choose you can never have enough of it. Also have your electrician run the lighting down the sidewalls throwing light at the sides of the car. Also to help with the lighting coat your garage floor with a very light color such as white or silver to help light the garage and reflect the light everywhere.

As far as what type, is there any type pf overhead lighting thats better than others?

I have ultralux high bay lights from fullspectrumsolutions.com. I love these lights.

I have a small shop that about 30'X18' I have 8 T-5's with daylight bulbs and the lighting is good. I would suggest T-5 or T-8's if you have the money. I think that the T-12's will be faded out in the future. T-8's seemed to be the best, but cost more so I went with the T-5's and so far have been happy with them.

How tall is the building? I would go with the T-8's. Quantity would all depend on height. If he's any good he should be able to tell you what would be best for your use.
