(Not sure if this is the right section to post, assumed most people in this section are business owners...)

Looking for some inspiration to set up a detailing vehicle, keen to see what everyone else has without trawling through heaps of threads.

So post up your current setup, a couple of basic pics & whether it's custom or purchased shelves/ideas/installations etc.

For the most part, everything I need is in the trunk of my Ford Escape. If I use my platform to sit on, but if I need something shorter, I just put my stool in the back seat. Everything fits just fine. I store my extension cords/hoses/attachments inside the 14 gal shop vac. I try to make good use of the trunk space and arrange it in a way that is easy to get to. Also, there's a small tub in the mix that I didn't label that hold my headlight kit.

^^ my most handy item, my mobile tool box. It fits all my most used bottles/ detailing brushes, clay bar. I just pull it out and roll it next to the vehicle I'm working on. 90% of the stuff I need is in there.

I keep a few tubs in my garage for my bulk items and top off my bottles before I head out. If I think I need more product of any kind I just bring it with me.

When my vehicle is packed full, I can still fit 5 people in it lol Lately I have been bringing a lot of my stuff inside because of the cold weather. But it only takes me 5 mins to repack all my stuff before I head out.

toolbox is a good idea. Did you pick it up at home depot?

really ?!......lol........I'm gonna have to pick one up....thanks :xyxthumbs:

Thanks, this is my temporary set up, it has a shock and awe factor when I pull up to new job sites lol, but it works! Saving for a truck!

It's nice that it has tinted windows too lol I imagine you don't fill the tank all the way?

I had worked out of the trunk and back seat of my Buick Park Avenue Ultra for the first few years. I started with a Mega Cyclo Kit, a Rigid wet/dry vac, a few buckets, a cheap wash brush and some dollar store microfiber towels. Each job I got, I put at least 50% of the money in a can until I had enough in the can to buy something else to grow my hobby detailing outfit. Starting out with no working capital is tough to say the least but it can be done.

Here are a few pics of earlier on.

Here you can see some junk in the back seat. My organizational skills are very lacking but they're getting better.

After a few years of stuffing half of my proceeds into the can I was able to buy this van pics of my $500 GMC Safari van - Autopia Forums - Auto Detailing & Car Care Discussion Forum but it didn't run so I emptied the can in an attempt to get it on the road but the can wasn't deep enough. I was able to get it running and get it home but I'd have to work out of the Buick for another season to earn enough money to get the van going.

In the meantime I found this for a good price and bought it.

A few more jobs and I finally got the van inspected and on the road so I piled all my stuff in it and then bought this.

I screwed a moving dolly to the bottom and a few D-rings to secure a strap to hold the drawers closed while mobile and off I went to put some more money in the can.

I picked up the pressure washer that you can see in the back of the van in this photo for $150.

I have since ditched the dresser with moving dolly, gutted the fluffy interior panels out of the van and built this sliding shelf unit.

I can pull this hitch pin out and then slide the shelf foreward for easier access of the things on it.

The shelf is mounted to a barn door track and dolly set up that can be seen here above the pressure washer wand that's attached to the shelf.

I picked this vacuum unit up off of Craigslist for $100, wired in a switch and outlet then mounted it inside the van.

I built this ladder holder onto the back of the van and added an articulating ladder to the mix.

Painted the hood on the van, http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/32674-repainting-my-van-s-hood.html

a few more cans full of proceeds and I got a few of these containers filled up.

I added this shelf and air compressor with hose reel.

This is where I am now but I have a few dollars in the can for some winter projects inside the van.

Wow Dave, solid work! I thought you said in your other thread that you weren't detailing for the public anymore :p

Thanks. That is what I said, and I do intend to stay away from the production details and just do a finer detail here or there. I am still going to keep improving my mobile rig to be as efficient as I need it to be should I decide to get out there and go full time detailing again.

These are the only pics I have on my phone but I'll try to get some interior pics soon. Problem is I have taken most of my stuff out due to the fact it isn't going to be getting much over 35-40 degrees and I won't be doing full details till next spring.
What I detailed out of for my first 2.5 years

Oh yeah haha I dont like people looking in my car. I do fill the tank all the way. I have stronger struts to support all of the weight.

This is my Detail Truck. Since it's down time here in Ohio eveything is out of my truck. I use my Nomad ,steamer , and vac,ONR for the winter details.
