Good choice with lyka, I was looking at using them a few years ago, but the cost when your looking to feed active breed 20 and 24 kg dogs is quite expensive.

We got an introductory discount via the breeder, but I'm not sure I can afford it long term.

I ended up feeding my guys multiple different brands and flavours of dog food, and occasionally they get our leftovers. That way if a particular brand is no longer available they're not locked in to that. The one thing that stood out was that I can't give them anything with kangaroo meat in it, the results were very sloppy and very stinky.

we have to avoid chicken for Penny. no issues with avoiding roo here.

2 weeks into being owned by sausage, we had a scare last week. my lil girl developed horrible diarrheah and added vomiting, which when vomiting she froze solid and fell over. she bounced out of it quick. a vet call once they opened and off we went.
the first thing the vet ( same vet office she was treated at while she was a foster but different vet- this one is one of the owners) noticed was her no hair rat tail. wanted bloodwork to check thyroid. tests also revealed an imbalance of bacteria in her stomach. simple remedy for that- psyllium powder which is metamucil.
blood test came back hypothyroidism. so meds for that.
it hasn't taken long for both to start working. shes poopin good and the thyroid meds have given her a little pep in her step!
although she can still "NOPE" with the best of them.😁
English bulldogs- " I will do that....when I'm ready."

This time last year, walking this track with my best friend was helping me through a rough period. He didn't realize it, but simply being by my side was allowing me to find comfort and contentment.

Over the course of 11-months, we went from summer heat, to lovely autumnal bliss, to the chill of winter before surfing into spring. Over that time, the landscape went from crispy brown, to fluro green, to the golden yellow backdrop of wattles in blossom.

Twelve months later, I'm back on this track but with a different companion. I've been around this track after Faych passed and it just wasn't the same, I felt naked without that tugging lead in my hand. And so, this little walk felt like home.

Olly initially found this new bush landscape a little bewildering, and we just HAD to stop every five metres for sniffs. But it wasn't long before he found his groove, almost like he knew the way......................Olly doesn't know it, but he's helping me in the same way his older brother did.

Within a few hours of being welcomed into his new forever home, Olly fell asleep after lunch in this position by the couch. The belly up and paws folded down posture has become his favourite sleeping position.......................

Apart from it being equal parts amusing and cute, this sleeping posture would appear to be a family trait. Both Mumma and Olly's siblings do the same thing..................

Olly is also ball crazy, again like his Mumma Lola and older sibling Bambi.

My guys are funny, Ziva prefers squeaky toys, Buster likes chewing, but gets bored with the chew toys he can't pull apart, so he goes for sticks sometimes too. And it's why I have to screw their dog beds down in their dog houses.PSX_20260328_232209.jpg

And occasionally they like to chew on each other. This one is from a few years ago.PSX_20260328_232401.jpg

I snapped this video on the first day Olly came home. He did this at each meal for a few days, which was equal parts cute and perplexing. All I can think is this was sheer joy of having his own food bowl after sharing with 10 other siblings for his first 8 weeks of life.

My little munchkin all worn after walkies today.

Previously, it was just Faych and I that would go on adventures. We had our routine, our favorite places to visit. This time around though, I've been including my old man when Olly and I go for walks, which I think has been beneficial for all concerned. It's a chance for Dad and me to spend time together, it gets dad doing some exercise, and I think he enjoys seeing Olly discover the world with such enthusiasm and gusto. Meanwhile, for me it's rewarding to see that develop, likewise the joy Olly brings to others while on our walks. Unlike me, he actually loves meeting new people.

Just about everyone I know in my neighbourhood, other than my direct neighbours, I know because of my dogs, and it's Ziva more than Buster. He generally ignores people, but she wags her tail and looks up at people hoping for pats, if they smile and say hello to her, I generally tell them she's friendly and loves to meet people. I think it's good to socialise them with as many people as possible.

The little munchkin had a busy day. A midday walk through the bush, followed by a relaxing stretch on the cool grass of the adjoining sports field. On the ride to and from our walk, for the first time he sat calmly in the passenger seat like a good boy.

When we got home, it was time for a bath. Would you believe he claws at the laundry sink cabinet in anticipation, maybe it's the warm water? I've never met a dog who's looked forward to bath, I had to chase, catch and carry Faych to do the same. The obligatory run around the backyard followed.

After the bath, he then "helped" change some outdoor light globes, he even wanted to climb the ladder with me. A late lunch, it was time a big sleep.

Smiling for the camera.................
