Got some new leads, I have short and long leads, but the long leads are fraying, so I'm not risking them anymore, they were almost 4 years old. I like rope leads, easier when you're holding two in the one hand. These are called flex rope, they have a little stretch in them, so less shock when they decide to chase birds, rabbits, and kids on scooters. I shopped around for a couple of weeks, nothing was suitable, then I found these online, from the same place I got their harnesses, just over $40 each, and that was discounted.PSX_20260507_135207.jpgPSX_20260507_135835.jpg

This was going to be on the Rescue’s website but we got him before it was posted. I can’t believe how nice of a cat he is, hopefully stays that way. Only short visits with our other cat so far.

A little update on Mr. Olly.................

We are now firmly into a daily routine. The midday walk is highly anticipated, he waits for me at the door, which is where his harness and lead are hung up. Despite the anticipation, putting on said harness is a hazardous procedure, he wriggles and bites with much gusto. He's also gotten very strong, pulling against the lead with barely contained excitement, only broken when he stops for sniff. He sits with me on the deck while I have breakfast, enjoying the autumn sunshine. At night, after his evening meal and a chase of the ball, he curls up next to me while I write or do bookwork. He's also taken to watching TV, especially if other animals are involved, last night he started barking at the dogs on the screen.

He's now at the age where I'm supposed to have him desexed. I know its standard procedure, but we've become so attached that I don't want to leave him there. He's not been left without his people around for more than a few hours since he came home. Same applies to having his coat clipped.

Buster was desexed at about 5-6 months old, I didn't want any surprises with his sister, but he never developed any humping behaviour, so it may never have been an issue. She was done a couple of months later. It didn't change either of their temperaments. Both were dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon, Buster was easier to care for than Ziva, he wore the cone for a week or so, but only at home, when we went for walks he wasn't interested in his wound. Ziva had to spend the week inside as it was raining all week when she was done, I even had to take a couple of days off work to look after her, there wasn't any complications, but I had to let her out when she wanted to go the toilet, and stop her bothering the cats.

I can understand not wanting to put him through the process though, more recently they wanted to put them both under anaesthesia to do a teeth cleaning, I said no thanks, and bought some stuff for them to chew on that cleans their teeth. At their last check up they didn't even mention their teeth.

Mr. Olly and I went for a big walk this afternoon, we then swung by to have a play date with our friends.

Curled up and fast asleep after an impromptu bath. The play date had been going beautifully — Olly initiating play with his bigger friends, chasing them around at full speed, pure joy. He'd gotten a little dirty, but nothing major. Then, for reasons known only to both of us, he stepped off the side of the pool onto the plastic cover and plunged straight in. Mildly dirty to fully saturated in five seconds flat. Naturally, once plucked from the water, he tore through the garden and emerged dirtier than before. That earned him a bath.

Such is puppy life.
