It's a hard pup life

Came across the first snake of the season on my walk yesterday. We mostly walk close to bushland and water ways, so I've been scanning well ahead and to side of the tracks lately. Spotted a medium sized Tiger snake crossing the track ahead of us, I froze and put the brakes on the little man, then waited till it had disappeared. I then waited to warn the young mother with her two young boys and a dog I'd passed earlier.

It's been warm over the last week, but yesterday was quite cold and windy so I'd say the snake was looking for warmth.

The red belly we saw regularly on our walks is dead. It lived under the path near the park, I don't know what got it, but it's about 3 metres from its hole, but on the other side of the fence in the farmland, so I suppose it could have been stomped by the cattle, there's some young calves around so the cows may have been protective mode.

I carry direct stop citronella dog spray good for snakes 🐍 but not drop bears 🐨 it's really handy for the walking path where owners don't keep their amaimals on a leed even though it's the law.

I will only use this spray to stop a dog attack or if it was dog on dog fighting.

it took a while for tater my foster to lose enough weight to be spayed but we made it! 2 weeks later, tater was adopted to a great family.
shes acting like I was nobody!:D
which I am really happy about. I get a bit nervous after adoption thinkin a temperament I didn't see might come out but nope- acting just like she did with me.5cd887d1-bfb9-4367-a943-07254df8c33d.jpeg1e186b42-4629-48ed-8110-a65904530f67.jpegf22b7439-12ca-497b-b82b-45b044339fbe.jpeg
