last week while doing some yard work, I cut my hand on the wire of the chain link. It's been several years since my last tetanus booster, so I stopped in the doctors office on monday for the shot.

I was given a sheet of paper that listed risk and mild problems...

  • Nausea
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • stomach ache
  • chills
  • body aches
  • sore joints
  • rash
  • swollen glands
I stopped in the doctors again tuesday for an allergy shot, and laughed that none of the above symptoms had occurred. finished a few meetings at work, and headed home.

and then around 4pm the laughter stopped... as i began checking off the above listed items.

almost finished with the list!

Thought you had it beat! Lol.

Hope you're making it through alright.

Getting injured sucks no matter how you slice it....Oooo, not the best choice in words but I think you know what I mean....;)

Ding dang...

I recently had stitches from a Magna Flow exhaust falling on me and luckily I had a recent Tetanus shot and even luckier, I didn't have any negative side-effects.

Had to get the tetanus shot because I had a chunk of metal fly into and get stuck in my eyeball. And yes, I was wearing safety glasses with side shields.

I need to take up a safer hobby like collecting stamps...

:dunno:

-I'm sorry you had a recent injury...But glad you received a most important safeguard.

-As for the delay, (and now the "forth-come-uppances/outances") of the forewarned:
slide...OOOOPS...side effects...

...Way Too Much Information!! :D

-Anyhow...Hope you get well soon!

:)

I get a booster every 5 years because I work with metal all day long. I have never heard or seen a list of possible side effects from a tetanus booster. The FLU shoot is the one that gets me sick every time.

Mike, sorry to hear about your eye, I hope they got it out with no complications. At work we hade a policy that if you are working overhead you have to have double eye protection ie. safety glasses and goggles or face shield. We have had several similar cases at work that have prompted this action. Yes it is a PITA to work with both, but I would rather be able to see later then not be a little hindered now.

Had to go to the emergency room, have the die squirted into my eye and then a Dr. retrieved the metal particles. Then he placed a eye patch over my eye and I wore it for I think three days.

Felt like I had sand in my eye for a couple of days.

Now when I do any steel grinding I wear safety glasses AND a full face shield because the little particles coming off the grinding wheel and the steel particles can fly and bounce and ricochet all kinds of directions.

I like working on cars but I don't like loosing my sight or body parts.

I hear you. I work with metal all day long 6-7 days a week. Doing structural maintenance on C-130 aircraft, I cut, grind, drill, sand, buff, and form metal all the time. We have various systems in place that we use like VPP(voluntary protection program) that allows us to help come up with solutions for potential problems.
OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP)
We also use something called 6S which basically is everything in its place.

Just something for you to look into if you have down time.(like that is going to happen)

Only side effect I ever had to a drug was after my back surgery.

I got loaded up with morphine and became TOTALLY CONVINCED that I was absolutely irresistible to all the nurses.

I had to take an acquaintance (used to be a friend, but after this...) to the ER with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand... bleeding EVERYWHERE and the knife edge of his left hand looked like hamburger. THE very first question out of the nurses mouth... "When was your last tetanus shot?" and he also received the list of potential side effects...
