Greetings from Alberta Canada,Just a quick question concerning silicone in paint shops. A couple of weeks ago I did an interior clean and detail with a product I was told had no silicone. Well I was told wrong and ruined a couple of guys paint work ( fisheyes ).I was using a pump up sprayer with the product so the particles were very small and easily airborn, especially with forced air heaters and ceiling fans in the shop. I was a good 60 feet away from their work but it mucked things up good all the same. Ok here's the question? would it be ok to use this product or any other detailer ( as almost all have silicone in them ),if applied with micro cloth or sponge instead of spray. Thanks for your time, Bukee in trouble !Feed back please

OUCH!!! I worked in a body shop for some time and the owner was very clear with us about being very careful with silicone. The only silicone product he would allow in his shop was gasket sealer because he did mechanical repairs too. All you need to do is get some of that silicone detailer on the sleeve of your jacket and brush up against a car being prepped for paint and there could be trouble.

If I were the owner of the shop, the quick detailer would be out.

EDIT: Welcome to the site:welcome:

A good rule of thumb with products containing silicone - Do not even bring them into the paint shop.

There's simply too much of a possibility of transfer, chemical confusion, even what dave mentioned. Avoid it if you can and look for a replacement product.
