Hey guys, I picked up a concentrated gallon of Simple Green today, I just wanted to know if anyone soaks their flat foam Lake Country pads in Simple Green with agitation to clean the product and gunk off the pads? I've got some caked on stuff and I'd like to get them looking and functioning better before my details on Monday. Does anyone have advice for using Simple Green as a pad cleaner?

Thanks!

James

I have never used SG to clean pads. I have however used citrus based
cleaners like Orange Blast sold at Walmart with great success and no
pad deterioration noted. I have read that some of the pad cleaners sold are citrus based.

You should really get a pad washer, it really saves you time and pads I say its worth the money. You can get it at the AG store on sale now less 15% plus a free gift on orders over $95.

To answer your question, no I have not used any cleaners not specified for cleaning pads.

Take care!

I would love to have a pad cleaner, it just a little high unless you're using it every day. I have used SG, Castrol SC, I use anything that's close. If it screws up the pad, so be it, I'll know what not to use. The only time i have a hard time getting pads clean is after using Collinite waxes. Thats some tuff stuff.

FYI, The 15% doesn't work on the pad washer....I tried LOL! It has been on sale before for around $110.00 I would think it will be again. I'm broke anyway so it will need to wait for Santa to bring it to me.:xyxthumbs:

I believe that a few months ago the pad washer was a VIP special. I should have jumped on it, but I was cash poor. I hope that it goes back on that again. I would love to own one.

steps to clean pads:

1) spray with xmt pad cleaner.
2) agitate with stiff pad brush
3) spray with pressured water

result: squeeky clean pads.

Can't say I've tried the simple green, as I've used Ryan's way with great success all along. Also seem to notice that pads spritzed with the xmt pad conditioner are even easier to cleanup afterwards.

Coincidence? Not sure, but effective nonetheless.

Only other stuff I've tried is the Wolfgang Polishing Pad Rejuvenator powder. GREAT Stuff, cleans pads effortlessly. I prefer the xmt sprays for times when I am only using a couple of pads here and there. For a full-on, multi-step detail where I'm going through pads like they're going out of style, I'll mix up a bucket of water, add the Wolfgang and start dropping in pads as I'm going along. By the time I'm done, I remove them give them a thorough hosing down, a spin on the pc and enjoy the like-new pad.

I'm giving it a soak in diluted SG and then I'll agitate it with a brush and see how it comes out. I can't get any pad washing solutions locally and I need the pads to be good for Monday.

Go to Walmart and get Dawn Power Dissolver.

I let the pads sit in the watered down SG for a couple hours, just went out and hosed them down, 85-90% of the compound/gunk is gone, they look 100x better.

I've got a CCS dual action package from AG coming in with the labor day special so I'll use a bit more careful of a cleaning technique with those - these pads were just foam cheapies.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'll be sure to check back to this thread when I order up some more professional pad cleaning supplies
