If you can, M02 and a green hex are a very nice combination, especially for a single stage paint. That pad is also my go to for heavy correction. Then finish with M09 on the white pad if necessary. I started on those old school cleaners, and cleaner/polishes, and still find them useful

This car hadn't seen any type of love, and M02 on pink Lake Country pads did the job. Their pink are similar foam to the green buff and shine / hex logic pads.

I sealed this vehicle with M20 Polymer Sealant after the M02. I was going to use Menzerna PF2500, but it was kind of cold out that day, which causes my Menzerna polishes to get kind of "gummy". The M02 I'd very wet and a little goes a long way.

Just to help us out here a little....

What TOOL did you use with the various pads and products?

That's a huge factor when trying to get better results over what you've already achieved.

As for chemicals, Menzerna FG400 is a pretty stout compound, I don't think I would personally get more aggressive than this for the chemical factor on single stage black paint.

Single stage black paint is normally the softest paint there is to correct.

From the for what it's worth file...

I also made a DVD on how to restore the single stage paint on a 1960 Corvette back in 2006 with Richard Lin. The video was actually how to use a Porter Cable dual action polisher we just happened to use a 1960 Corvette for the video (DVD).

This was the first time in the history of car detailing, (at least that I know of), where a video was made showing START to Finish how to machine polish a car from a swirled out mess to perfection.

I used a flex 3401 with hydro tech pads I tried a blue pad :xyxthumbs:

This is a single stage 55 Chevy that I've recently done. I used M205,Poorboys Black Hole and Mothers California Gold Pure Carnuba Liquid. Used a White CCS pad for the M205,Black CCS pad for the Poorboys and a Gold CCS jeweling pad for the Mothers in 6.5 on a Flex 3401. You just have to take your time and not rush this kind of work and the results will be fantastic.
