Smoke colored headlights

I thought the “smoke” was supposed to protect them? Lol

I was wondering about the original equipment smoke colored lens, if polishing them would remove the smoke coloring or it was built in coloring.

I suspect that if the headlight lenses have been infused with the color they can not be changed. But I don't recall a company or auto marker who deliberately tints their headlight darker..

Agree. I don't think that coloring is just a layer on the lens. it wouldn't last long if it was. That coloring is infused in the plastic itself. You can probably polish our scratches or even hazing just like a clear lens, but in the end it will still be a smoked color.

I don't recall ever seeing an OEM release smoked or tinted headlight lenses. Pretty sure they aren't technically legal despite how easily they can be found on the aftermarket. Even the yellow tint seen on some fog lamps are aftermarket unless it's a pre-1990's Citroen or Peugeot.

You mean all the green and purple headlights I see around here aren't OEM?
