So Gary, aka slickooz, and I began talking about our methods of ONR. I thought it would be a good topic...

....How do YOU ONR?

Here is my method:

1 wash bucket
1 rinse bucket
1st drying towel bucket with clean water
2nd drying towel bucket with clean water

I'll wash a section with ONR and then take the first drying towel thats been dwelling in its clean water bucket. I'll wring the towel out of excess water and then blot dry the section. I'll take the second drying towel, wring out the excess water, and then finish drying the section.

What is your method? Do you use dry drying towels or damp drying towels? My reasoning for using a damp drying towel is to minimize the possibilty of marring from any dirt that may remain on the surface for whatever reason (main one being I missed that spot). Am I overkilling? Being paranoid?

Run through the touch-less wash
ONR bucket with 2-3 gal ONR and hottest water I can get (130F)
Wash bucket with 2 gal water (130F)
Kwazar bottle with ONR solution for pre-soak
LC Blue Grout sponge
Master Blaster
UWW+ & MFs.

Touch-less wash during winter nastiness
Pre-soak with ONR solution in Kwazar
Then wash with LC Grout Sponge.
Dry with Master Blaster
Rinse sponge go on to next section.

When finished with ONR, go over all panels with UWW+ and MFs to ensure complete cleaning and add gloss with the UWW+.

i use my RODI unit to make my 3gal of water so there will be no spotting..I put in my ONR and use one of my rolled edge MF towels..I dont use a 2nd bucket cause my car never has anything more then dust on it and its garage 80% of the time..wash a panel and dry it with a cobra rolled edge towel..repeat over whole car

I may try the 2-3 gallons. So far I've been using 4 gallons in the wash bucket. Will that really make a difference using 2-3?

So your wash media is a MF towel?

I received a sample of ONR. And tried it on my car today. I did a waterless wash on my car a week ago, so my car wasn't filthy. I used two buckets with Grit guards, one for ONR and other was for rinse. I used LC blue sponge and two MFs, 1st for initial wipe, and 2nd one was to dry whatever left on panel. I work from top to bottom and clean wheels/tires/wells last. Then Meguair's spray waxed.

I might add one more bucket with clean water to rinse the 1st MF. Good tip using hot water. It was in the 40's today with high wind, my hands were chilly.

I only put grit-guards in my rinse bucket, and I find that (with the exception of when I tried the Opti-Mitt) 2-3 Gal is the right amount of solution for washing the car. I usually err a bit on the high side when mixing up the ONR.

-1oz of ONR with 2 gallons of water in one bucket.
-Clean water in a separate bucket.
-If the car is very dirty, I will spray down the car with ONR diluted.
-Wash in straight lines, no pressure with Cobra Bone.
-Dry with Cobra Guzzler.
-Usually go back over with FK425 sometimes for more slickness.

very interesting!!! Because I'm in the paranoid stage, I use grit guards in my wash and rinse bucket. The other two buckets don't have grit guards in em.

How many ounces of ONR are you using for 3 gallons?

About 4oz, which I understand is in excess of the recommendations, but I have very hard water to deal with.

Gotcha...thanks Bill for your input. I may skip using drying towels and continue to use my leaf blower. I'm not sure why I didn't just think of that to begin with. I'm also going to see if my Metro Vac n Blo will be sufficient for drying as I've never tried it for drying. I've only used it for blowing out cracks and crevices.

If you have a good coat of LSP left, I think your Vac&Blo will work quite well. You may want to give the garage a quick dusting / blowing out before you get started, otherwise you can kick up quite a bit of dust. Remember to remove the filter when using the V&B for drying.

I think leaf blower is OD for ONR. Seems like a lot of extra work not needed. Since the car isn't trenched in water. I don't like the idea of leaf blower to dry panel because it big tool. The vac&blo might be better because its a lot smaller and has a hose. The BIG reason I use leaf blower is to get majority of the water out of cracks, drying panels is a plus.

Car never get real dirty so one bucket. About three gallons of water. Two oz of ONR.The Chenille Microfiber wash rack. ONR the top Spray some OID. Dry with Drying Towel. Do the sides same way. Then the Wheels last with the left over ONR. Mine is a DD. Unless the end of a month when I am busy always ONR or Waterless wash. End of month busy time for me so when I get a chance I do the big hose wash. Then the leaf blower comes out.

Yeah I'm thinking my Metro Vac N Blo will be sufficient. I'm going to use that tomorrow and see how that works.

A capful of ONR solution is 0.5oz right?

I think so. I have the Gallon jug so the cap is pretty big. I just use one of the attach-it measuring cups...now THAT should've gone on BOGO! I love those things.

Thanks for your feedback...mine is a daily driver as well. I will try 3 gallons tomorrow and see how that works. Thanks again!

I really like the Lake Country Foam Car Wash Sponge for ONR.

I have tried opt mitt, schmitt, bone, MF mitt, MF towel and none released soil like the LC Sponge. A bit of scrubbing on the grit-guard and it looks clean again. It really is perfect with ONR.

Here is a picture from LegacyGT. This is the sponge that is dirty

And here is the same side of the sponge after being rinsed in the fresh water bucket and squeezed out:

LegacyGT (Bill Morton) - I hope you don't mind using these pics again. They really show how great the LC sponge performs.

The LC sponge has continued to release soil - wash after wash.

A must have for rinseless washes. IMO

yes I picked the LC sponge up recently. I mainly used the Chenille MF wash mitt for my wash media when I used ONR. For some reason I liked the feel of it better. I had more control over it.

Yeah LC sponge is great!!! How durable is it?

The sponge feels very durable. I pray it doesn't marr the soft Acura paint.

I have used approx 10-15 times now and has held up. I also rinse often and don't use much pressure.

It is only $5.99. I would still buy if it only lasted 5-10 times. I feel like it really protects the paint because I can get the soil out easily. I have used it on fairly dirty vehicles and when you rinse often, using two bucket method, it really is safe on the paint.

I also tend to use more ONR because I rinse often and the sponge picks up quite a bit of ONR. Of course that is an advantage IMO because it makes it super safe.
