Anybody using a portable "on demand" soft water device?

Anyone see any advantage using distilled water when diluting products such as APC's, PERL, etc?

Alot use the CrSpotless system to reduce minerals and spotting from water for rinsing. I have heard of others using distilled or filtered water when mixing chemicals and seems like a good idea.

I use distilled water for final rinsing and to mix chemicals. I paid $100 bucks for a used 12-gallon distiller and pay about 30¢ per gallon (electricity use). My next step is to hook up my pressure washer to a tank filled with distilled water and use it for every step that requires water. I figure it would make my job easier and more efficient.

I use distilled for clay lube and detail sprays that are dillutable. Sometimes ill even jst use it on windows after a wash as the windows are already clean, I jst need to get some small water spots left from drying off.

Yes. Tap water has minerals in a bigger or lesser degree: those minerals will either bond to some of the molecules in the products or will be present in its original form when the diluted product is applied, reducing, for example, the slickness of a QD.

If you know that the water you use to wash/detail is hard to enough of a degree to leave water spots as soon as it evaporates then I would look into some sort of softner or filtration system. As far a water for dilluting products I would just use filtered water unless you fell the cost of distilled water is worth the peace of mind.
I personally have a whole house filter that gives me RO water to all but one tap. It is nice not having hard, chlorinated water in the shower and to have to wash vehicles with. Plus I never buy drinking water for the house; it's not the purest drinking water however, it's way better than the city tap water.

I like the distilled water concept whilst diluting and using directly on the paint/etc where it can be regulated. Might just have to install a $300 water softener in the basement. Should be able to direct it to where it should go. Yeah....elevator mechanic...plumber...same thing.
