I picked up a set of Hyundai Tiburon seats out of the junk yard for $40 and they're decent, but the leather is a bit on the hard side. Is there a good technique/product combo to bring old sun-dried leather back to life? I'm eventually reupholstering them, but for now I'd like to soften the leather and re-dye them to look acceptable in my pro-touring pickup. That is in advance!

supposedly leatherique will soften leather

^^ this. I apply it and wrap it in plastic wrapt, park it outside in the sun with the windows up and get that inside nice and hot. Come back that evening, remove the plastic and wipe off.

I'm sure Leatherique would be great, but I had some leather (?) door trim on an old car of mine that was hard as a rock, and I slathered it with some Lexol and let it sit for a few days and it softened right up. I guess I'm just saying it doesn't have to be an expensive treatment.

You can also look for leather conditioner at places that sell horse tack. I use Bick 4.
