Hello Autogeek members,

I'm a newbie when it comes to detailing. Years ago when my old car was new I would wax it but that was over 15 years ago and the stuff I used (magic colour, armorall, liquid crystal) is obsolete now.

I've kind of followed some the discussions here and have learned a lot already.

I now have a 2006 bmw 525i which has a lot of swirls and some minor scratches. And recently I bought some things on Autogeek so want to work it in. So what I'm planning to do now is the following:

1. Wash (using Meg GC and two bucket method and microber mitt)
2. Clay using an old Magic Clay bar which I've put in warm water and kneaded to a brand new side and DP Wash and Gloss as lube.
3. Wolfgang total swirl remover (I have two samples totalling 4 ounces so should be enough) using PC 7424 XP with a 5.5 inch (yellow or orange?) LC flat pad set at 5
4. Wolfgang Finishing Glaze (I have a 2 ounce sample so hoping it is enough) using a white LC pad set at 4
5. Klasse AIO using a black LC pad set at 4
6. Klasse SG using wowo hand method

Wait a week and wash then reapply Klasse SG. And then one more the week after so that I have three coats of the Klasse SG and hopefully that will last me until next Spring.

What I not sure about is whether Klasse AIO should be used. Was not going to use it but read somewhere that Klasse SG bonds better to painted surfaces prepped with Klasse AIO.

Would appreciate any advice you guys can give.

Seeing as this is your first post, welcome to the family!

As for your process, it looks good. I would use the Orange pad with the Woflgang Total Swirl Remover.

To me, using Klasse AIO after the Wolfgang twins seems unnecessary, since you've already polished the surface and refined it.

You've done your homework. Now go have some fun!

Scotty is that you?

told you you didn't need the KAIO if you were going to polish...

Thanks Ziggo. Good to hear confirmation and will follow your advice.

Yeah it's me Tim. I wasn't sure cause I read somewhere where the Klasse SG bonds best to something with AIO first.

you could always try KAIO on a few panels on one side and without on the same panels on the other side...

I could. We'll see, I think I'm going to put mother's carnauba wax (still have half a bottle left) ontop of the klasse sg cause i did the aio and sg combo on my dad's car and think the shine is kind of plasticky....

yeah, that's the problem with pure sealants and part of the reason why I would only consider KSG for winter

was it hard to remove?

It seemed easy last night. I put 1 oz of sg in a small spray bottle. Then I just wet my applicator slightly and then rubbed it on and wiped it off, doing small sections at a time (half a trunk lid, top half of door, etc.) And it looked pretty good when I finished up yesterday as the sun was going down. Today it still looked slick but when I look closer I can see that some places you could see the residue of the wipe mark of the microfibers and therefore some of the sg was left there and if I rubbed it hard I could get the rest of those off. Not too worried cause it's really hard to see in any case.

But I read that if you top it with carnauba, then you get the deep gloss and combined with the durable protection of the sg, isn't that the best of both worlds? Better than just using it in winter it seems, although I may lean towards that too now that I'm reading about all this Menzerna stuff.
