Hello, I'm Mk and have been mostly a lurker browsing the info that is here and figured I'd introduce myself. I am into sporty German automobiles (mainly BMW) and have gotten into detailing about 2 years ago, have been a work in progress ever since. Thanks to a referral from one of the bimmer forums, I found autogeek.net and have been ordering from them since. Awesome shipping (since I'm in Florida) and awesome products. Look forward to more business in the future.

A few pics of my paint after some TLC:

P.S. Can anyone point me in the right direction to post a thread asking for a detailer near me? Need someone to buff some light scratches out. Would do it myself but am afraid to practice on my car...

- Thanks, Mk

Welcome!!!

Since you live in FL. I would recommend you taking AG 101 and 102. With the money spent on those classes you will learn enough to never need a detailer to work on your car.
Your lucky you live in FL, I wished I could take those classes but I don't have extra funds to take that trip.

Welcome!

I can do it or I can give you a number of a guy thats good. I have to find his number. He went back to school at UCF so I'm not sure if he's still detailing or not. I'll PM you later.

Are you near downtown or closer to the Longwood area?

Welcome to Autogeek Online! :welcome:

Removing light or shallow defects is pretty easy one you learn a few techniques for working by machine. You can do it by hand too but it's faster and more effective when working on clear coat paints to work by machine.

Information Threads
Detailing 101
Detailing 102

These are hand-on classes and besides learning how to detail your car they're a lot of fun too!

The more I look into this the more I am wanting to do it... :buffing:

How full is the 101 class currently and how many people usually end up signing up?

You can do it!! There is definitely nothing to fear. I'm assuming you are using a D/A?

DA is almost idiot proof. I knew nothing about polishing a car, read a few threads and praticed on my dad's beater and now I want to start my own business. :)

Hello and welcome!

I live in Oviedo. Always nice to know there are other detailing enthusiasts in the area. I'm betting after you read up on some of the threads Mike linked up you'll be able to do it yourself. Just remember, always start with the least aggressive and work your way up.:welcome:

Welcome.

Tons to learn on here thats for sure. PM if you ever need any help with anything, I spend alot of time in Orlando.

Welcome MK ....

You should consider going to detail fest this month. You can learn a lot there and have a lot of fun too!

So what's detail fest and where's it at?

How you liking that S4 btw?

Welcome to AGO from a fellow Orlando dweller! :D

I would highly suggest going to detail fest and attending the class as well. Mike is a great teacher, and you will learn plenty about polishing your car.

Who knows. You might get enough information to feel confident enough to tackle the problem yourself.:props:

May just do that, currently decided to just go ahead and do the full detail on the car and polish next time around in 5 to 6 months, by then I should have the polishing down.

Thanks for all the welcome posts btw. :xyxthumbs:

Just curious... is there here anyone who likes to drive at a faster pace planning on passing through or around Orlando to go to the detail fest? Would be nice to have someone with a similar pace that is planning on going there.
