Protowax 93 quick review.
can i start by saying a big thank you to both MEH4N and Son1c for getting a sample of this lovely wax into my hands. it arrived whilst i was at work yesterday, so as soon as i got home i grabbed a few bits and headed outside to have a play
. my first impression of the wax is the smell coming from it, its delightful. a really nice scent of marzipan which is sweet without being sickly, very pleasant. the wax itself is soft, almost the texture of cold butter, and it spreads like a dream. a couple of swipes with a finger applicator was enough to do half the bonnet of the van.
as it was fairly late in the day, i decided just to do the bonnet. i'll do a full vehicle with it in due course.
so i prepped the bonnet with DJSN mild clay and Born slippy
that was followed up with DJ Micro prime on a blue roo
and then it was out with the '93' and an SN finger applicator
Curing, you just know this is gonna be good already :grin:
just as an experiment, i thought id try buffing at different time intervals. i buffed the lefthand quarter after just a few minutes, it buffed reasonably well, but this isn't a fast curing wax; like all good things, a little time is required to allow the magic to happen. tbh, that suits me down to the ground. I've never been a fan of waxes that cure in 30 seconds flat, their damn hard work if you miss your window with them. so i left things a little longer, around 15-20 minutes and then buffed to the mid point on the bonnet. that i recon was about spot on, it buffed really well. being a very soft wax, i found it finished better with a microsuede cloth rather than the fantastic fur buffing cloth which has a deep pile. the remainder of the bonnet i left on for around 90 minutes, just to see if it would present any problems. It buffed without any issue at all.

Shortly after this point the heavens opened so i managed to get some nice beading shots
all in all, a cracking pot of wax! I'm really looking forward to layering some up on a full car very soon. Hats off to Drew, very nice job mate :grin thumb:
