Chemical Guys Lava! Chemical Guys boasts this wax is all you need! a break through in technology!
Yeah well I disagree 100%
I was extremely interested in this product, and at $70 the product better perform
The smell of the product? Incredible.. you want to eat it
The texture? interesting similar to Chemical guy's wheel guard

similar color to wheel guard (orange sherbet looking in texture and color) , smells 2x as good as wheel guard
It takes more than expected to get the pad going, however the product spreads and spreads, it spreads too much honestly.. gets annoying come time to buff off
This product never really hazed properly for me like for example dodo juice orange crush hazes

Lava disappears into the paint

the wax is on the paint and has been for 15 minutes in that picture.. but you couldn't tell, not unless you were in person and the sun was hitting it

Now some beauty shots for this "revolutionary break through super wax" Lava

As if I wasn't already extremely disappointed in lava, I come to find out that Chemical Guy's Lava is the ultimate Dust Magnet Dirt Magnet etc I have ever used as an LSP

Honestly my car got filthy so quickly and stayed that way, it wouldn't release junk like my other LSP's do

So all in all I hated this wax, and I do a ton of research on my products before picking them up (as to why I generally have positive or very positive reviews), hopefully other's experiences will be different with this wax, however I could not have been much unhappier with this wax, and yeah some of those reflection pictures look great but the buff off was a huge pain, you can change levels, look at it this way that way the wax was incredibly hard to spot and did not haze for me like normal waxes do, after 15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, I even left some on over night to no avail..
So with that said, that was my experience with Chemical Guys Lava, I hope yours is different.

Here are several links to other Last Step Product's that I enjoyed

I don't have Lava (and don't plan ever buying it...) but it seems that to get decent results you have to apply it with a DA and let it sit around an hour before buffing.

Nice review! :xyxthumbs:

Oh man... I'll be using my Lava in a week or two. I got it for $35 new and I have t tried it yet. What was Theron issue? It wouldn't haze / stayed "wet" when you went to buff it off??

Man i remember "LAVA" was the long awaited wax when it was released... i bought a jar, and the liquidy look made me return it.
I assume their new black wax is similar to Lava as well....

black you ask!?
on a mustang forum I used to frequent a member purchased black and we asked him what the consistency was like, its much more liquidy than lava, lava is like a thick viscosity lotion I guess you could say or melting sherbet
whereas black wax is just... like liquid wax in a tub..lol here is his video demonstrating

I can't get it to emb on this site so.. you'll just have to click the link :dunno:

I generally read positive reviews about it, usually went.. good but over rated, good but not worth the price, etc, thanks for the tip, but with that said a wax should not be that finicky especially at that price point and if so, it should state so!

that's a great deal on it though
issues imo
overpriced
extremely hard to see on the paint once applied
seemed to never "haze"
dust/dirt magnet
overrated / hyped up / not a super wax revolutionary break through
however it did look good
would I buy again? never
but with all of that said your experience could be completely different! and I hope it is lol

From the sound of it, you didn't apply thinly enough. I prefer DA application with Lava. It does need to sit on the paint a good long time......45 min. Climate will play a factor in that. I wouldn't suggest using Lava if the temps are below 55.

Post a pic of what lava looks like inside the pot... I have always wondered what it looked like

This overpriced product is a messy one.
can't be as bad as black is lol

I seldom over apply waxes, it was thin enough that I could barely see it on the paintwork if at all.. but I agree thats the only explanation, idk this product was extremely oily and I'm glad to be rid of it
I understand why you'd prefer DA application lol, and a 45 min drying time for a wax imo is unheard of~ and unacceptable
also why do you not suggest it under 55?

this isn't my picture as I never uploaded the picture I took of it top off, but it basically looked just like this in my case..

To each their own about drying times. Some sealants take that long. Dress the tires or clean the windows while you are waiting. 55 because under that, it won't properly dry and removal will be harder than it should.

My Lava looks like it had a blood clot or someone at Chemical Guys added some paprika. Lid was kept on as tight as possible. Will be storing it in a bag now also.

I got lava Nd quickly returned it! When I got it It wasn't like people says soft pasty. Mine was old or something. When I tried applying it, it was like getting boogers and smearing it ! Impossible to wipe off.

I wonder if I got a bad wax ?
Btw, sonic I you a pm.

Strange consistency... almost like margarine
it was kind of like home made pudding, I didn't like it at all, it was cool.. but something I wish i had tried at a buddy's house and not bought the full size myself lol
I'm glad I didn't buy this. I actually contemplated it for awhile some time ago.
wish I could say x2 to this lol

I appreciate the input jim, especially being the heavy user you are, but like said to each his own, I don't use any products that take longer than 30 minutes, also what bothers me more about the drying time is that its stated for 20 minutes iirc from CG and if its a "paste wax" it should be >30 like all others imo

lol I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience, granted mine was not much better..
it's possible but these waxes should be good for years++
thought I had replied to it I guess it never went through, replied again and it should have gone through now!
