I've been doing some research on this product for a bit and there are many different opinions as to whether FE works on paint as well as wheels. I've read reviews saying it doesn't work at all on paint, but then I've seen actual pics of FE on a white car and it was melting the iron bits right out, just like Iron X.

I'm really eyeballing the 5 liter size. It's the best bang for your buck at nearly 170 ounces for $99.99. Not bad. I've been turned on to wheel cleaners lately, even though my wheels don't get too dirty, I still like the extra clean results I get using a wheel cleaner.

My personal opinion, I've seen some pics showing FE work on iron particles on really white paint. I imagine if it can loosen metallic particles on painted and clear coated wheels, it should do just fine on clear coated paint, that's just me, though.

So what are your thoughts? Is SONAX Full Effect something to use as an alternative to Iron X? Would you use it on paint?

Honestly, these are all same chemical based, but have different concentrates of it. Iron X is the strongest. Sonax FE is not recommended for wheels, but in this case you can get Wolf's deironizer - $80 for 5 liters. Wait time is similar to Sonax FE - slightly longer then Iron X. Good luck!

I just think why risk it? Use IronX formulated for paint if you choose to, leave the FE for wheels.

I have experimented with Full Effect on paint with mixed results. I would not do it on a client car. Auto Finesse Iron Out has consistently given me the best results on all paint systems.

And by the way you can get Full Effect for almost half that cost.

Huh? The cleaner itself is a wheel cleaner. Typo?

I'm assuming he thought you said $170 instead of "170 ounces"... the ~$90 retail price tag is fairly standard from what I have seen.

Yeah, I had the price right behind the amount, lol.

What's your opinion about SONAX FE on paint?

Haven't tried and it don't plan on trying it... I buy Iron X and Sonax by the gallon and use Iron X on paint and Sonax on Wheels as they were intended.
