We as detailers are always searching for the perfect way to clean glass and leaving it streak free.

Well I am happy to say I have found a method that works for me and I have been very happy with my results.

I will say that if you haven't used Sonax Glass Cleaner yet you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. With any Sonax product less is ALWAYS more. You never need to use a ton of product and if you are you are only wasting it.

From the AG Website
Removes smoker's film from auto glass!

SONAX Glass Cleaner eradicates exhaust film, nicotine film, insects, and dirt from windshields and windows. This phosphate-free formula leaves a streak-free shine for optimum visibility. Use SONAX Glass Cleaner on household glass, too.

Your vehicle is constantly exposed to dirt, car exhaust, and bugs. These contaminants can stick to glass and cloud your visibility, creating unsafe driving conditions and for you, your passengers, and other motorists. Dirty auto glass is especially dangerous when it rains because the oily residue on the glass blends with water to make a blurry mess.

Keep your windshield clean and clear by regularly cleaning it with SONAX Glass Cleaner. It eliminates stubborn films quickly and easily. Use our Cobra Microfiber Glass Towel to clean glass without lint or streaks.

16.9 oz. (500 ml)

What you will need:
Sonax Glass Cleaner
Glass Towel (I use Sonax Towels AG doesn't carry)
Unger Squeegee with black rubber cleaning blade

Step 1.

Look at your glass! You want to examine your glass so you know where more dirt or film maybe than in other areas.

Step 2

Spray a light even coat of the SOnax Glass cleaner over the entire area that you will be cleaning.

Step 3.

Take your glass towel and go over the entire surface of the area you are cleaning. Since I was doing the windshield I went over the entire windshield all at once. At this point we want to use the towel to remove the film and dirty areas. We are not focusing on leaving it streak free. We are agitating the dirt on the glass.

Step 4

After you have cleaned the glass with the towel now spray another light coat of glass cleaner over the area you are cleaning.

Now, take your cleaning squeegee and start at the top and move from one side to the other. After each pass you want to use a towel or a shop towel to clean the blade and dry the blade. On the next pass over lap the previous pass by 50%. Continue this until you have the window cleaned.

I hope you enjoyed my glass cleaning method for getting clean and streak free glass overtime.

Squeegee! Why the heck have I not tried this lol. Thanks for sharing! I'm about out of window cleaner too might have to pick up some Sonax!

Besides having a type of solvent, this glass cleaner
probably contains, at the very least, an ingredient
that is hygroscopic in nature. With that in mind:

Did you notice if the dash/dash material exhibited any
ill effects from being splattered with the excess of this
glass cleaner?

TIA.

I've been cleaning glass like this for a long time with Sonax Glass Cleaner and never have I seen any issues.

Good work!
My go to glass cleaner now is denatured alcohol water mix.

what is hygroscopic?

Thanks for sharing your method. It does seem very easy and great results can be attained. I have always dreaded doing glass. Lots of microfibers and Sprayway.

I got a sample of this from Kevin W. at the summer Chicago AG meet, I love it and will buy it once the sample runs out. Zero streaks!

Thanks for sharing Evan! This will be on my list to order next:)

The Sonax Glass Cleaner is Alcohol based which to me makes a huge difference. I have been thrilled with glass cleaner.

I know I always hated cleaning glass and always struggled to get it streak free. Even when you would think you had it perfect all it would take is a cool morning with foggy windows to realize that it wasn't so great after all.

This method will fix that and other problems like it.

I will say that there maybe some thinking way not just spray, squeegee and be down. While it seems that maybe quicker the problem is that it won't loosen or remove all the haze, dirt, smudges, and so on that can stick to glass. I feel that using the towel is the most important step when using this method.

Ever since coming across the KD Cloth, cleaners and technique became less important: just water and the cloth, problem solved.

I've never considered using a squeegee. Lately I've been wringing out a mf in 114 wiping down then dry with dry mf. Works fine but I want that squeegee

Could the same end result be reached with this technique and water? Possibly.

Just link when you wash the exterior of a car using the right tools and product for the job always helps. I like to think of the glass cleaner just like soap for an exterior wash. The glass cleaner helps lift and pull away dirt from the glass to the towel. The squeegee helps ensure a streak free finish. :props:

Nice write-up Evan...

Love the squeegee idea. Also a big fan of the Glass Master Pro for windshield and back windows so a person doesn't have to be a contortionist to clean the inside of these glass windows.

I wasn't talking about your technique: with the KD cloth I only use water because the microfibers do the job without the need for any chemicals. :xyxthumbs:

By the way, I have the Sonax glass cleaner but I prefer Stoner's. And I also have the Glass Master Pro tool but it has been sitting on the box for quite some time now...
