My favorite combo the past few years has been discontinued in Canada :(
I was told via email from SONAX that due to VOC regulations Polymer Net Shield isn't available and that Brilliant Shine Detailer was replaced with Ultra Slick Detailer.

I really loved the SONAX PNS/BSD combo as it made some amazing beading on the vehicles I've used it on. Everyone seems to love that! It lasted a very long time on my car as well. I've not reapplied it since June of '23 and its still beading pretty well! Though it is not offering much in the way of protection now, and really needs to be redone.

Any recommendations for something that lasts hopefully a year, beads/cleans well, and won't break the bank?!

Sad day :( lol...

Why not go with the newer sonax offerings? Ceramic spray coating and ultra slick detailer?

They both looked like more of a quick detailers to me then a true sealant. Also even though I asked the Sonax guy for an alternative he didn't mention the first one

I'm not sold on the likes of CanCoat etc...
Anyone have experience with PNS vs Jescar Powerlock or Ultralock?

I'd love something that lasts 6-12 months, but not sold on these partial ceramics...

If looking for something to go 6 - 12 months CanCoat and maybe CQuartz Lite are probably your best options.

CanCoat is certainly not a "partial ceramic". That stuff will harden up an applicator or clog the spray head with silica crystals just like other coatings that last much longer.

If you are talking about "partial ceramic", I'm thinking something like Wolfgang's SiO2 Paint Sealant. It's a ceramic infused sealant and a really good product, but it won't get to the 12-month point. More like 7-ish months from my usage.

After applying CanCoat last week I can definitely say it’s a ceramic. When I was finished I tossed out the four wipe towels I was using. Many folks have said to not take a chance using them again. As for the Autofiber applicator, it was quite crunchy.

Aiy, I worded that wrong, sorry o_O
I agree that a sealant like that would be considered a 'partial ceramic' depending whats in it, vs a 'ceramic lite' like Cancoat etc.

I've been reading about CanCoat and am a bit worried I'll get a streaky finish on my black car. I'm also worried about how much of it will be wasted if I only use it once a year ;) Guess that means I'll have to do two coats at least and use it up a bit, lol... The couple friends whos cars I helped do have moved over this past year, so its just me now. Neighbor got his ceramic coated... no one at work even washes their vehicles, let alone coat it, lol... :(

Have you looked into meguiar's hybrid paint coating? Should get you close to a year if not more and it is in an aerosol can like PNS so has a long shelf life. Maintain with hybrid ceramic detailer and it will serve you well.

Thinking of Jescar Ultralock+ or CanCoat :\

Well now, I'm not impress with Sonax Canada. I emailed them again to see about PNS and now they are saying PNS is NOT discontinued, just BSD is!!

We were told that Polymer Net did not meet the new Canadian VOC regs.
We have since learned it complies. Sorry for the confusion

BSD is officially discontinued.
