Hi all,

Spring is upon us, and I want to re-coat my GLI and put a coating on my new to me MDX. I have a few coatings in mind and I would love feedback.

A few notes: I'd like to avoid water spotting as much as i can. I live in an apartment (for now), and both cars live outside. I have somewhere to apply the coatings, but I would prefer to be able to drive the car in 24 hours. I also prefer to avoid multiple coats. If i can expect 2 years of real-world durability, gloss and slickness become my focus.

Coatings in no particular order:

1. Blue Colar 10 supr Slik. The spray detailer has worked fabulously from apex, but my last attempt at a coating was BC1 and it lasted a year then died.

2. P&S Stout

3. DIY detail 3 year (dont love the people, but their rinseless wash and Spray coating work really well)

4. Adams Graphene coating advanced. The Glass coating i have seems to work really well.

5. Car Pro (open to suggestions)

6. Koch Chemie Ceramic All Around

Some of the coatings have minimul feedback from what i can find. so any feedback or firsthand experience would be great?

Know Yvan and crew have a bad wrap here but the DIY stack that Guz sent me was easy to put on and looks fantastic. Time will tell if it will last. Really considered the ADS coatings before ordering more DIY. CQUK3 is still going strong on my suns car fwiw.

appreciate the feedback. I've used a few products from ADS, like their Hero and Amplify. I think they are solid products but they never end up being something i want to buy again. Which stack did you do? The 3 and 8 or 3 and 5? The 3 and 5 is tempting.

8/3 stack. Just bought 8 year to do on wife’s car/inlaw’s car because I didn’t want to do twice the work on car’s that probably won’t be around as long. Also, being able to do 2 cars from one bottle was a bonus for me. Don’t know what Guz used the bottles he sent me but I’ve still got some 8 year and a pretty good amount of 3 year left.

Didnt that dana detailing guy do a diy coating with guz? It failed very quickly if i rememeber correctly

Is ease of application important to you?

to a degree. I don't want something extremely fussy, especially since im doing it by myself, but it doesnt need to be an "anyone can do this" coating like can coat. probably 40% gloss and slickness, 30% durability 25% ease of use 5% cost.

From your list I have no experience with Blue Color, Stout or KCX.

For starters I have heard that Stout is not that user friendly. And based on my experience with P&S Legend and P&S Inspiration, I would not use any coatings from P&S. These two were just not that good.

DIY Detail 3 year is very easy to work with. It is not the most hydrophobic.

CarPro Cquartz UK is always a good option. You can get by with one layer but it performs better with two. Not the slickest but tried and true.

Adams Advanced is pretty good. I used it as a wheel coating and did well. I have had it on the wheels for almost 4 years. It has lost most of its hydrophobics and is now mostly sheeting. Pan also had good results with it. He has videos on his channel capturing the performance of it.

Other coatings that are worth looking into with a good ease of use are Ethos Graphene Matrix. Nasiol ZR53 nad Pan 3 year.

Hmm that rules out P&S and DIY for sure. I think given everything and my past experiences with Adams, I will probably go that route.
Worst case i can alway top with BC3 which makes the car look like candy.

I'll toss in the Gyeon products for consideration, specifically Mohs EVO. So far, I've found it to be just as durable as CQ UK, the beading/sheeting is slightly better, and it's far easier to apply. The differences are in the appearance - Mohs is more glassy/reflective.
