Spammers? Why? Are these people the lowest common denominator in the population of the world?

I just removed two posts from a spammer and I think Nick or someone else here at work removed two different posts by a different spammer this morning.

I've been posting to the Internet since 1994 that I can document and to vBulletin discussion forms since the software was introduced after the beta release in 2002. So I've seen my share of spammers and removed thousands of them over the last 14+ years and I've never understood the spamming mentality?

Do these people or bots that post their spam actually think regular forum members of any niche forum will actually click on their links and throw their money at their wares?

I just don't get it? :dunno:

Maybe that's because I work for a living?

Heck Mike I removed about 10 posts this morning. I can't see how these people think that revenue is going to be obtained from their posts.

"4. No bashing any company or their products. No bashing other people. If you can't say anything nice about someone, then don't say anything at all, this also includes talking to others in a demeaning manner. REMEMBER this forum is here for those that are new to detailing and those that have been doing this for years. We expect that you treat everyone with respect no matter what their level of detailing is. We all had to start somewhere."

Mike broke the rule! I'm gonna tell!

(Oh, wait...dang! I agree with him!)

Without Spam...
How would we know that a
Nigerian Prince needs our help?

Kinda like telemarketers. Incidentally, the best response I've found when dealing with telemarketers is to start hitting random numbers on the phone keypad while they're talking. They hang up really fast then and aren't in any hurry to call back.

They are maybe hoping to plant cookies to peoples pc's

I think that's when they include a hidden .png file in their message. I've documented that in the past, here's a pictures.

So I guess these would be .png Spammers.

We've been hit a lot lately with the normal spammers hawking thier wares.

:dunno:

I guess you are not interested in a "weird" trick to save 50% on your car insurance then!!

I don't think they are actually planning on anyone buying anything. It's probably more of a Search Engine Optimization technique. Funny thing is I actually learned about this through my buddy who got me into professional detailing, and said I could help with SEO and he would pay me by the hour for going on forums to "advertise", but it wasn't to put these spam posts. He said I could just have the link in my signature and go through albums where everyone posts pictures and just comment on pictures like "nice looking car" or along those lines. It's sort of a less intrusive and less annoying way to get the link another exposure count without anyone having to click it. It helps to boost a website up towards the beginning when ever someone does a search.

I'm not sure this is these spammers' intent, but it most likely could be.

Re: Autogeek will be at the Palm Beach Cars & Coffee car show this Sunday!

Does anyone know price details about future 2017 Mini Countryman? I found this text, but I am not sure about this details about price.

Edit: Spam link removed.

Damn. So the "chip" they offer for the Hemi in my Ram that will add 65 horsepower to a 395 HP engine with a "less than 10 minute install time" isn't real??

;)

Whenever I see those, I'm saying "C'mon, man... Really?"

I just saw someones name in yellow, was curious why. And saw it was a SPAMMER. Nice feature AG. I belong to a lot of different forums for my hobbies, on the others we deal with a troll every now and then. But the spam here on this good site lately, WOW. Good job by the mods for getting rid of this filth!

Since I am usually looking at the forum at around 2 or 3am I see the spam before it gets removed. And no, I have never fallen for the clickbait.

It seems like the last few weeks are being inundated by "foreign bride" or sex spammers. They are always yanked by the next day. And I do hit the triangle and report them.

I just wish they would at least learn how to upload the naughty pictures :Picture::wow::drool:
