I have begun the quarterly detailing on the SLK. :awesome:

With the H20 restrictions in South Florida I used DP Waterless wash and then clayed and rewashed to remove the residue.

The car has the hard ceramiclear coat I used the"M company's" product designed for Mercedes (that I hope someday AG will be able to carry) and an orange pad. Almost all of the Spiders came out. There are a couple of slightly deeper scratches (Not noticeable w/ fingernail). Is it possible for me to use a more aggresive pad (4in) and spot treat those areas or is that harmful?

I am thinking about using the grey pad and applying DP sealant and then a coat of Pinnacle liquid and finally two coats of Souveran. I understand this wwill take a few days to finish so that the sealant can cure for 12 hours and for the poly charged liquid wax to cure.

My questions are:
On a black metal flake car does it make since to use the sealant or should I just glaze, then wax?

Should I glaze before or after a sealant? or can you even do that?

Does it make sense to use Sealant, then galze then Liquid Souveran and finally Souveran or are all those steps overkill?

Thanks for your help and sorry for the rambling post:cheers:

as long as your finger nail doesn't catch on the scratch you should be good to go at it a little more agresively..just don't overdue it..with a pc you should be safe...using glaze has always been an optional choice...i never liked them...and since you are "double dipping" (sealant and nuba topper) the glaze is really unecessary...

Whats the difference between a GLAZE and a SEALANT? I always thought they were the same?

Glazes are used after washing and polishing (swirl removal). Here's a quote from the AG site about glazes:
"A glaze is a shine-enhancing product that goes on after polishing but before the wax or sealant. It is made with oils and wetting agents that amplify your paint’s shine and improve the clarity. "

Glaze after car polish and before wax. carnauba finishing glaze, gloss, show car glaze, last step product, Wolfgang, Pinnacle, XMT, 3M, Meguiars Here's a link to the glazes offered by AG.

Sealants are meant to protect your paint and make it shiny, like a wax, but they aren't made of carnauba or any other natural wax. They are synthetic, and they offer longer protection than a wax, but it doesn't mean that a wax won't protect as well as a sealant.

LOLL! off topic but are you Filipino?

Well I have never used Mother's Sealer and Glaze. I just read the description of it, and it seems like it's part of a 3 step system, kinda like Meguiar's Deep Crystal system. So it's the 2nd step. It says it polishes the paint, doesn't mention anything about correction.

Sorry for kinda stealing your thread jfsully :(

I am not sure I understand the theory of putting the liquid wax under the paste wax?
