I'm from the "chrome don't go" school. Anyway, I've often contemplated painting a car flat or semi flat black. My question is this. How does a person preserve and protect the paint on a flat finished car? Especially, given that flat finishes are typically softer than gloss finishes. I imagine most waxes and sealants would tend to negate the flat effect.

Or stain it opaque...

There really isn't a lot you can do outside of washing flat or matte paints.

There's a couple of companies that have introduced products for these types of paints as they are a trend but I haven't see a lot of discussion for or against them...
