I have a vx 5000 and mostly use it for just upholstery ,carpet , leather . I did a search but didnt see to many tips ,tricks or how to's for steam cleaning techniques.

Id like to hear about how everyone uses there steam cleaners and on what parts of the vehicle . :hungry:

Carpets & Upholstery: After pre-treating stains they get steams and then immediately extracted.

Door Jambs: On excessively dirty door jambs I pre-treat with APC+ and agitate with a brush while steaming the same section I am brushing. It loosens even the hardest baked on crud imaginable.

Tree Sap: Wrap MF towel around tip of steamer and steam hardened tree sap until it turns to syrup again. Any remaining residue can be wiped away with Tar-X or similar product.

Cup Holders: Steam em up and wipe clean with a MF towel. Almost don't need any cleaner. This is probably my favorite thing to clean with a steamer because it saves SO MUCH time and gives fantastic results.

Engine Cleaning: Works great for the baked on oil/dirt residue after pre-treating with APC.

On totally wrecked vehicles the steamer also works well on panel seams to break down built up moss/mold quickly.

Good ideas Nick, We must be the only ones on this forum with the VX...lucky us.

I love it for tree sap removal as well . I really like it for headliners

Once you use an optima your screwed...I haven't found anything that compares to it. Only thing that the VX out performs is on seats sometimes and headliners all the time.

The Optima is more powerful and with the new tools and brushes just introduced, might b the steamer to get,,tested one last month, looking into buying one but shopping around for something less costly that does the same ,,

Not to dis the tools but the ones I got I'm sending back. They are useless in my eyes.

I recently purchased the VX as well. I am still trying to figure out the right combination of using pressures when cleaning seats, floors, etc... My only complaint is how quickly it looses pressure. I turned mine up where it is about 5 1/2 to 6 bars but as soon as the initial pressure is released it seems to drop and stay around 3 bars. I am not sure if I need to turn it up more or not.
