I found a local guy on Craigslist who rents out his steam generator for $50 a day. It looks like a heavy-duty commercial unit.

What parts if the car can be cleaned with a steam generator?

Thanks, Daniel

Wet or dry steam? dry steam will do nothing for you. Wet steam I guess you could use it on wheels and wheel wells.

Um, what's a steam generator? You mean a steamer? Like a vx 5000? You can clean a lot with that. Most detailers swear by the machine. I'm just con fussed what a steam generator is...help me

Huh? Steam, wet or dry, can be used to clean a multitude of things. It's a big part of my interior detailing operation as well as others'. IMO, it's one of the most useful tools in the arsenal.

He is talking about INDUSTRIAL steam generator. Sounds like kerosine fired unit. Works like a boiler.

Hi,

Sorry for any confusion by the lack of details. It a portable commercial type not kerosene fueled and not a boiler.

I mentioned commercial as opposed to one of those cheap handheld (e.g. Shark) units that can be bought at K Mart.

It's a dry type steamer with <10% humidity. It also comes with a wand. I think it would be good for door jambs, wheels and around the grill etc. Is it safe on painted surfaces?

Thanks, Daniel
