I've got a new storage room to setup so I have a blank slate.

First, I wondered if those that use pegboard could chime in. It's been decades since I last used pegboard so I thought I'd revisit it. I can't recall why I stopped using it.

There's the traditional tempered hardboard version of pegboard at about $15 for a 4'x8' sheet, and now there's plastic pegboard, except it's $200 for a 4x8 sheet. There's also steel pegboard. Any opinions on one versus the other? $200 per sheet for the plastic seems waaaaay overpriced but maybe there's a reason.

Hooks: lots of options, but I found one called Talon Hooks that seem to get rave reviews. Anyone use them? Or the Triton Durahooks?

Bins: Are there wall-mount bins that work well for storing plastic bottles?

Any other storage hooks, containers, cabinets, ceiling racks with pulleys, etc that you use, please chime in with your experiences.

I use some peg board in my basement detailing storage area. It's just the normal hardboard, but before putting it in I put a few coats of enamel paint on it. My thought was if I hang some brushes hat are still a bit wet it won't get soaked up by the peg board. So far it's been ok.
As for hooks, I happened to be at a cabelas when they were tossing out old displays. I grabbed every hook I could so I don't have anything special. All my bottles are just on shelves.

Here are some pics of my set up. Sears is a great place to get ideas and I use the gladiator rails.

That looks like a great set up in the space you have. Where did you get the blue floor mat ? I like that.

Thanks for posting this. I am also very interested in seeing how other members have their garage/detail area setup.
I just moved into a house w/2car garage so I can continue detailing for $ over the winter and neew some ideas on organization. Thanks

NPBGT: did you use spray enamel on the pegboard to avoid drips of rolled or brushed enamel getting into the peg holes and later dripping out?

Pureshine: Very nice!
Are you just using a paper towel hanger for your spray bottle holder?
Do you know the make/model of your ceiling platform and whether it adjusts for sloped ceilings?

Thanks for the tip on gladiator rails. Looks like there are a bunch of different rail systems so I'll have to spend some time reading. Here are a few that I found in addition to the Gladiator:

Gladiator Garageworks:
Wall Mounting Solutions | Gladiator®

Craftsman Versatrack:
Craftsman - Keyword No Result

Rubbermaid Fasttrack:
FastTrack Garage Organization & StorageSystem | Rubbermaid

Hunting for a sale on these seems like the thing to do. Pretty pricey at regular price. There are many others such as Proslat, Husky securelock trackwall, Monkey Bars.

I thinned out some satin rustoleum and sprayed a few coats with a hvlp spray gun.

Yes I use the towel holders for bottles and for the racks I've had them 10 years not sure where I got them from. The racks are adjustable.

I would suggest looking up the manufacturer to determine if they have local warehouse/distribution facilities in your area - you may luck out and find one that has a direct to consumer or perhaps an employee store that they'll let you shop at. I have one in my neck of the woods (Toronto, ON), and has been a wealth of cheap finds, at a significant discount to what retailers would be selling them at.

Alternatively, scan the papers for store closings, or places selling fixtures from stores that have closed - they are generally higher end then consumer oriented products.

Good luck.
