While I still need to find a good wheel cleaner for painted wheels that resists brake dust, I picked up a cheap dust-pan brush at the dollar store last weekend just to try it on my wheels. And it worked great!!

My wheels are the Performance Pack model's for the 2017 Mustang GT which has a bunch of spokes to work around and this brush is thin enough that it slides through all of them. It let me wipe the wall of the rim easily and for a dollar why not try it?

I was going to order the long handled brush from either CG or ebay but now I realize they most likely wouldn't fit between the spokes and around the rotors.

Just figured I'd share.

I think I know what brush you're talking about, I have a couple of those... I've never used it on wheels though because if it's the blue 1 I think it's a tad too stiff, if it's the gray 1 I guess it would work but I use other brushes [including ones found at the $ store for wheels]

I sometimes use the gray dustpan brush to quickly sweep my fabric top when I don't want to get the vacuum out.
I use the blue 1 to quikly sweep upholstery seats clean when I don't want to drag the vac out.. And also to brush the bottom of my shoes clean.

Are you cleaning your wheels with a toilet brush?

No I don't think he's using a toilet brush... I think he's using this brush: [it comes with a dustpan]

This brush comes in handy for narrow wheel wells. I also keep another 1 [this clean 1] for making carpet art. [it looks like a toilet brush but it's actually a dish brush]

And finally the actual wheel brushes they sell there. I always have 2 of the blue bristled brush [1 for wheels and 1 for tires] and the yellow handle brush bends nice to allow you to clean behind spokes and in between barrels.

Can't beat it for a buck. They do a great job at any price.

It looks most similar to this but the handle looks slightly different. Same shape/concept. Again, works very well!

keep an eye on your wheels and make sure this brush isn't scratching them over time...

I know one thing, I wouldn't be using a piece of junk like that on $1,600 worth of wheels on my GC. Wheel Woolies rule :laughing:

I wouldn't use that particular brush on wheels either, but I'm sure he likes it because it's good for the face of the wheel while also being able to hit certain nooks & crannies in the corners of the spokes. Are Wheel Woolies even capable of being effective on the face of the wheel?

If it were me I'd choose a Mothers Wheel Brush type of brush like the 1 in my 3rd pic. or a boars hair brush of the same shape and a Tampico brush for the barrels. I can't stand it when a brush is too thick to fit inside certain wheel barrels.

@OP. How far do you go in between washing your wheels that they require more than light agitation?

Yup. When I first got my truck, and I didn't know s**t about detailing, I used a soft (so I thought) household brush on them.

Spent hours trying to hand polish all the micro scratches out of the chrome. That sucked. :/

Absolutely they can get the face, sides, calipers and nothing can get deep into the barrel of a whell like a Wheel Woolie. It's worth the money to get the set of three sizes. Also, even this thick one willget into the wheel lugs and I use it for the tire too. My tires on our fleet of vehilces are all new so they don't need much. They are also great on tail pipes and virtually indestructible.

Deep cleaning into the barrels of the wheel and check out the lug nuts too!

I don't doubt they're effective for cleaning the barrels, but it seems like they have the shape of a corn on the cob on a stick and I can't imagine them being anywhere near as ideal as a Mothers Wheel Brush on the faces. Lol.

So you use them to clean the wheel wells and tailpipe and they're cool to go back on precious wheels? I never scrub wheel wells with any of my wheel brushes, maybe a tire brush but never 1 that touches wheels.

A sales manager once told me, presentation without demonstration is nothing more than conversation. :buffing:

If I sold Wheel Woolies for a living, I'd sell alot of them LOl.

You have to use one to get just how awesome they are.

They rinse out amazingly well with a blast of water from the hose. Shake em dry and they're ready to go.

And they never flick chemicals back in your face, my Daytonas are long ago retired.
