What do you guys currently use to store your client info? I know some of us make follow up phone calls and stuff like that. Or just to have a cache of all current & past customers. I currently have a notepad with all that info. Do you guys use a computer program? I'm looking to migrate all the info onto my computer.

What I did was build a form template in Excel that I fill out based on a paper form I use when working on the car. I input the pertinent data in the form and it goes into rows/columns in other spreadsheets that I can then query and report on later. You can start by just building a simple spreadsheet in Excel and collecting some data, then play with a copy to learn what you can do with pivot tables etc.

I personally wouldn't bother,if they like you and the work and the prices, you will be memorable when they need the service done.I use to put a little transparent small sticker up in the far left windshield with my number. If you have to chase customers by phone I think there's a promblem.

I wouldn't say don't do it. It's a good way to track your business in various ways. You need to know your numbers, at least I do and helps me work on things.

I use google docs cause I can access it anywhere I can get internet. I uploaded a screen shot of what I been working on in rough draft form right now.

Where you get those been looking for some?

I've been thinking about putting together a website that would allow you to track various bits of information related to detailing. Customer info, cars owned by the customer, and even get down to storing the levels of paint measured when doing a detail that way you can track how much paint is removed over time. Not sure if something like that would be helpful to many retailers. If so give me a list of what you would want to store and I might start working on it. I think having the information online rather than on a single computer is a better option for accessibility.

Well, I cloud most of my information. Almost all my detailing pics and important documents are on google drive so I can access them on either of my computers, my phone, or my tablet anywhere in the world at any time. It's proven to be very useful. Just need something where I have a mass list of all of my client information.

I dont need it to chase customers. Just need it to have a cache of client information so I know what I've done, where, who, and how much. stuff like that.

Expanding on what I have mentioned earlier in this thread, would having an outreach automation system be helpful your any of your businesses? A system where you could schedule your clients appointment and have it send automated "reminder emails" about the clients appointment?

Along the same lines would it be helpful to have the system send automated outreach emails such as quarterly detail remainders? In the Northeast our winters are notoriously harsh, I always detail my cars before winter to make sure they are protected. You could have a pre-winter email blast to all of your registered clients.

I am just brainstorming and trying to get feedback from those in the field. Let me know what would help your business and make you more productive.

I dont think a reminder would hurt. Never know what you can forget when your busy. And i like the email blast to.
