I cut my claybar into thirds and have 2 pieces that are unused. I've read to put unused clay into a ziplock bag and spray some lubricant in there so it doesn't dry up but how long can it stay in there like that for? I've also read that it can get moldy as well with that type of storage.

ive honestly had claybars stored in its original container each year and never ever has any problems

I have stored my unused clay in a zip lock plastic bag with a little QD spray on it for over a year now and it looks as good as new

:iagree: Mine has lasted two years--same method; stored inside the house.

this has nothing to do with how to store them and how long it will last the way you stored it, but for clay that i will be using i went to walmart and bought some of them travel soap holders. i bought them in the colors of the bars so they match. that way i know which "cut" of clay bar i will be grabbing.

Same as everyone else. I just put the unused back in the plastic container with a squirt of lube and then put the container in a Ziploc. I always store in the house between uses.

Have not used lube with it in bag. have new bars unopened as of yet. Ill have to remember the squirt of lube.

Are these sealed at all or just clip together?

I've wrapped it up in saran wrap, too. Don't put too much lube in there, you just want a little bit so the bar doesn't stick so bad. As far as how long, it seems to last indefinitely, at least at the moderate temps I store it at.

I would just invest in a small plastic soap dish. Put the clay in with a squirt of QD and your good to go.

af90 - they just clip together, no rubber seal. I keep the clay wrapped like others have said though. I basically just use the soap holder for protection from being smashed, squished, etc.

I have a small plastic container that I store it in, I first spray a little lube and put the cover on.
I've left it there for months and found no issues with the clay when using it again.
Zip-Lock would work well IMO.
