These spots appeared all at once and were not there at all last weekend! I'm assuming its clear coat failure of some kind, but was shocked at how they appeared all at once. My Land Cruiser is a 1999 so it wouldn't be out of the question for the paint to show some signs of this, but wondered if this was some sort of environmental contaminant?? Its driving me crazy as, like many on this forum, I'm very particular about my vehicles! I would like to know your thoughts on what can be done, if anything? I had planned on eventually painting to hood at some point due to some rock chips, but not this soon. Thanks!

Looks like a rain drop pattern. Can you feel them or is it smooth?

Thanks! Luckily the roof seems to be holding strong. I assume its because, its never been compounded or buffed in its life? I've never done any aggressive polishing on it but when I purchased it 2 years ago, there were signs of compound in some areas and I've seen first hand what can happen when dealership detail shops try and remove water spots and scratches . My focus has mostly been protection!

It feels smooth, but it stormed really bad last week and there were some white looking water spots left on the paint before I washed it. I wash our cars weekly if weather permits, and I never let bird droppings stay on the paint at all, but timing of these spots caught me off guard. There was no sign of any of them 7 days ago! Could concrete dust or something been mixed in the water on the car speeding up the failure? I've seen damage caused from that when cars park near the runoff areas of parking garages.

That looks like some sort of mineral spotting to me. Did you drive through a sprinkler by accident? Happened to me the other day, I couldn't get out of the lane I was in and got the whole half of the car sprinkled.

There definately can be minerals and dust mixed in with rain. During the spring we get red dirt from OK deposited on us here where our dirt is a very light tan.

You said you didn't notice them last week. Did you do anything with that paint between last week and this week? Specifically polish, compound or anything that might have filled in those spots with dried product? Just a thought.

No sprinklers, but they are doing construction next to my office.
