The only place I use a glass cleaner anymore is on the inside of a front windshield. The outside windows are cleaned with whatever I'm washing with. I dry them first. The insides (other than front) are cleaned with a detailer (I like Griots Best of Show). I find it easier to clean windows and leave whatever residue remains evenly distributed rather than using a glass cleaner to strip the glass clean.
The reason I glass clean the inside front is I've had bad experiences with detailers reacting with condensation and affecting visibility. I use Stoners there with one of those glass cleaning tools.
I use N-914 mixed with distilled water. I've had the best results that way, I don't even buy glass cleaner anymore with the exception of some sprayway from time to time.
