Just got a new to me 2010 Land Rover LR4 and being 3 almost 4 years old there are a couple scratches and what not around the body, and was wondering what suggestions you all had for improving or removing some of them...

Ive attached some pictures and will describe each as best I can. I am fairly new to auto detailing and extremely new to this forum, so if this is in the wrong place let me know...

Door handle area, looks like maybe the diamond ring from the previous owners wife's wedding ring might have scratched the paint. You can feel that it is not a surface scratch but it is definitely not extremely deep

Longer shallow scratch on passenger door. Maybe a purse running down the side, or possibly a light keying? Seems way to shallow to be a key though.

Plastic trim above the engine hood, below the front windshield shows some faint signs of fading. It is a black plastic, similar to some bumpers and other trims areas of the car.

Thanks!

I'll suggest Meguiar's Scratch-X and a terry applicator. I'm guessing it'll take care of the door handle bucket, and it may do wonders for the passenger door. That will allow you to 'dip your toe' into the detailing waters as you read and learn more.

On the cowl, I'd use a good APC (read a bit, but you may well find Meguiar's APC on the shelf at your local store, close by the Scratch-X) and a nylon brush. Follow with either a trim restorer or dressing and see what you think. There is a TERRIFIC article on this that is worth a read, and will certainly help if the initial effort doesn't meet expectations:

Good luck!

Thanks so much.

Is that your car in your avatar? Q7 prestige?
