The marble tile in my wife's bathroom is not looking it's best and is showing water spots. I thought it may be a great idea to buff it with my PC. Does anyone have any experience with buffing marble tile? Any suggestions for products, pads, etc.? All thoughts would be appreciated...

Thats where I got the idea to polish the marble floor. I saw where you had polished the counter tops. But I read it before your last post where you talked in more detail about it (and that you are planing on tackling marble). Please let me know how it goes. I just posted a few questions for you in the other thread.

Oh my god I was afraid of this. It is winter in Idaho and Tad has come down with cabin fever. Just put the buffer down son and pm me. I will talk you through it. It will be ok.
What ever you do you have to promise, that if you find yourself writing"All work and no play makes Tad a dull boy" in your postings, that you will call 911 immediately. They will know what to do
.

Use the Miracle products. I've never had to clean the marble, but I've used the 511 Impregnator sealer and its tops. I applied with an applicator, and buffed off with a terry bonnet and my PC. Countertop came out great. I'm sure they have a cleaner/prep product that you could use in the shower, then seal. The trick is staying on top of the sealing so it doesnt get nasty.

I have done a lot of stone work. I use a Flex Wet Polisher for stone. It's like a small rotary with a hose attachment so you can hook water up to it to cool the stone when polishing. It takes polishing pads made of plastic with diamonds embedded in it. I have pads from 60 grit down to 8500 grit. Works great on marble on granite.

Mable is a soft stone and easy to polish especially compared to granite. It's also a very porous stone which stains easy and scratches easy. You might be able to polish it with an aggressive compound/polish and cutting pad but you would run the risk of staining the marble with the polish. I would NOT suggest doing it.

You can polish it out using sandpaper. You will need to take it down using at least 2000 grit to finish it off nice.

Acetone also works pretty good on removing surface stains in marble. Keeping you marble sealed is a very good idea. I find that a number of the automotive waxes and sealants work better than the ones marketed for stone.

I have heard of many polishing granite and stone tops with buffer. My concern would be using the correct polish and abrasiveness.

What I will note, is NEVER Klasse AIO the shower floor. It works rather well on tile indeed, but the soap/water stays above the tile on flooring and soon you will be too !

:iagree: that would put u down really hard and fast like walking on ice.

Thanks for all of the great inputs guys; and yes Uncle Stu you are right I do have cabin fever (the wife pm'd you about it) but i'll be ok! I got some cleaner/polish made for marble at Lowes last night. I'll do a test spot behind the toilet and see how it goes. I'll keep you posted.

Well as my Uncle Stu suggested earlier, yes I do have cabin fever here in Idaho, so I did it; I polished the marble floor in my wife's bathroom. While there was a definate improvement I can't say that it made an astounding difference. I think it definately looks much better and it did remove the water spots; but I did not attain that superior shine that I was looking for. There were waters spots in the tile and claying and polishing did remove them. I used some marble cleaner/polish that I purchased from Lowes and it was so so. So then I used WG finishing glaze and the results were much better with it. I'm glad I did it and we (wife included) can see a difference but it is very hard to tell a lot of difference from the photos but I'll post them anyway (just for fun)... First two are before, second two are after, and the last one is of course the gratuitous product shot featuring "WG FG"

Welcome to AG, " Not just for cars anymore" Hmmm, new slogan? Or maybe it's just us nuts north of the Mason Dixon line bored as hell in the winter.

HA, funny you say that as I did that to my bathtub and yeah...i felt it and was like OOPS...got a little too AIO happy and had to strip the AIO from the floor so I would not end up on floor of the tub, hehe.

How about Cultured Marble?
I have done some test spots with the PC on our shower walls, but haven't committed to it yet. I know that the spot I used UC and a yellow pad on was swirl free and smooth, but I am afraid I'll screw it up or something.

I'm not sure if this is cultured marble or not (I think it is), but I was also afraid of screwing it up a first. However the urge to polish eventually got the best of me. I did a test spot behind the toilet and then continued on. I used an orange, and then a white pad with the marble cleaner/polish that I got from Lowes, and then tried to jewel it with WG FG and a red pad. It did not turn out as glossy as I'd liked, but it was a marked improvement. I think I will tackle the glass door in the oven next weekend...

That's funny when us people livin in COLD climates using car care products inside the house. I did the master bathroom clean everything. When i got done it was much better smell like i was on the Tropical Island.

What a coincidence. Yesterday, I thought the bath vanity top, which is cultured marble, needed a good buff and seal. Mostly fro make-up and hairspray residue from the wife. I thought of taking some XMT 360 to it.

You guys have me wanting to do my son's shower with my machine...Its the only place in the house I wouldn't step foot in!
